Comments about REI Rendezvous 3-in-1 Convertible Pants - Women's Petite:
Based upon the reviews I have read these do not sound like the old Rendevous pants I have worn for years. I was skeptical about the additional zipper and think I will be sending the new ones back.

Comments about REI Rendezvous 3-in-1 Convertible Pants - Women's Petite:
I would have to agree that the older Rendezvous were the BEST. I think the calf height zipper resulted in pants that were both stylish and also comfortable even in hot weather. I've actually received a TON of compliments backpacking with these over the past few years, and was looking to grab a few more pairs. Alas, a thigh length zipper would be lost on me, and I'm concerned that it would feel a but more constrictive. I love that the older Rendezvous fit perfectly.
Assuming that the newer ones use a similar material to the old, they are super durable (I've used mine forever, as mentioned) and comfy.
Bring back the old Rendezvous!

Comments about REI Rendezvous 3-in-1 Convertible Pants - Women's Petite:
These do not compare to the older style. It would be better to make 2 styles...1 as convertible shorts and 1 as convertible capris. Most of us wear one style or the other, not both.
The new style has eliminated the pockets on the pants legs. I found the pants legs pockets to be the most useful. It is very hard to find petite womens active pants with pockets on the legs.
When I am hiking/backpacking/camping I can't easily get in to the pockets on my bum and I never use the upper front pockets. I am a short petite woman with hips. The last place you want to carry more is around the waist, hips and rear.
The leg pockets were perfect for carrying phones, flashlights, snacks, keys, compass, etc... These items do not fit well in the current pockets with a full Gregory Diva backpack.
Please being back the old style. I will keep watching for them.
The older style fit perfectly off the rack. This style does not.

Comments about REI Rendezvous 3-in-1 Convertible Pants - Women's Petite:
Never had a convertible pant before and I love the idea. Going to Europe in early spring so it may be chilly or not so much. But I agree with another reviewer, one zip at the capri level is enough. Not only is it unattractive, but it kinda makes the thigh tighter where the zipper is. But I still love them and would get another color - like brown - if REI offered them.

Comments about REI Rendezvous 3-in-1 Convertible Pants - Women's Petite:
The original Renezvous was the perfect pant for those of us that were seriously short (5'3") and had thick thighs. Finally, I had found a hiking pant that zipped off around the calf, at a capri level. But now...THESE ARE NO LONGER THAT PANT!!!!
I liked that they didn't leave me with the short option, where I would be constantly pulling the shorts out of my crotch as I was trying to focus on the the trail ahead of me. Short, thick legs? Want to take a large step up and through something? Be sure to stop halfway through that maneuver and tug the shorts out of your privates.
The NEW Rendezous has done something hideous! There are 2 zippers, one for a capri level, one for a short. Great, just what women want, more zippers around their thighs and legs, making us look like catepillars. Really? And where there once was no constricting zipper seam going straight across the mid-thigh, there's no mistaking its presence now.
Not every active woman that likes to get out on the trails is that of a thin thigh. There are plenty of us that need, appreciate, the longer capri length. We were thrilled that there was no short level zippers to further restrict our movement and make us feel even more uncomfrotable. The Rendezvous fit wonderfully around my hips (40") and waist (34"), not much gapping, the petite length is spot on.
Squatting in the 3 way just feels awful. Trying to hoist upwards, you definitely feel the constriction across the thigh if you have a full thigh.
Please REI, please return to the original style which works, WELL, better than WELL! It was so WELL there was nothing wrong with it!
I am all for metamorphosis, but I have zero desire to look like a striped catepillar with zippers covering every few inches. When a petite inseam is only 30 inches, go with two seperate pants, on that is a short, one that is a capri, do not combine them.
I will not be buying the new style. I will look for an acceptable replacement in another brand, or head over to an online dealer and wait patientlly to see if the loyal Rendezvous that I know shows up.
The Rendezvous that survived 3 weeks in Utah climbing, crawling, sliding, and scrambling over 50+ miles of trails. The Renezvous that has gotten me through every hike in the CO mountains, and all along the Grand Canyon. That is what worked.
Please, return to what worked. Play around with zipper closures, belt loops, side pocket placement and size, should you add a vertical zip for easier boot removal...but don't go forward with the catepillar...please.
