Comments about REI Vacuum Clip Mug - 16 fl. oz.:
Stay away from this product. I've returned it 3 times with the same defect that everyone's writing about. The weld on the bottom part of the handle is fragile at best. I've never had one make it past 2 weeks, and I am now giving up on this product. Please, REI, carry better merchandise.

The clip a the base of the cup broke within 3 weeks. This would be perfect if that flaw were addressed.
Do not purchase.

Comments about REI Vacuum Clip Mug - 16 fl. oz.:
This would be my second REI mug. I had the other one for years and had lost it. So you could imagine how exited I was to receive this one for my birthday. I was pleased at how warm it kept my coffee throughout the day. Pleased at how air tight it kept the fluids, to the extent, I would keep it in my backpack if needed.
However... The clip is poorly designed. It broke within three weeks due to a poor weld design at the base of the handle. I called for a replacment and would need to pay to ship it in (im not near a store, in order to have a replacement.
In any case, the mug is on clearance for a reason. Do not buy until the mug handle is redesigned.

Comments about REI Vacuum Clip Mug - 16 fl. oz.:
This mug had all the features that I had been looking for; but like everyone else here who has commented, the handle base suffers a serious design flaw: the welding suffers from a serious manufacturing flaw (ie. cheap). Mine broke off after 2 weeks, showing signs of signs of rust in a weld(?). If you wash it, be sure to dry it asap. I like the idea noted earlier of using JD Weld, but you may want to try Rust-Oleum, too. ;) REI appear to have a line of stainless steel mugs from this manufacturer; but imo, REI should avoid future contracts with this particular manufacturer (in China), if it continues to produce inferior products. I give it 2 Stars, since it's potentially 'salvageable'.

Comments about REI Vacuum Clip Mug - 16 fl. oz.:
I purchased this mug about 2 months ago and was very pleased with how hot it kept my beverages and how it didn't spill so I was pretty disappointed when the handle snapped at the base where the clip is. Upon inspection I noticed that the handle base is barely even welded on and I saw rust around the weld... Again, pretty disappointed.

Comments about REI Vacuum Clip Mug - 16 fl. oz.:
This thing gets tussled around in my bag riding around the city and hasn't leaked yet. Won't keep things hot for much more than an hour so not a true vacuum mug, but does the job well enough. Would not recommend for the dishwasher as the handle binding can build up some rust at the base.

I bought this for my wife and she loves it. The cup keeps her coffee warm for most of the day if she keeps it closed. It fits in the Keurig without issue too. My father also bought one and is very pleased. The handle has a detachable clip that lets you attach this mug (while empty) to a backpack or MOLLE webbing. Sweet mug. I may get one for myself.

Comments about REI Vacuum Clip Mug - 16 fl. oz.:
I bought two of these mugs, one for myself and one for my boyfriend. We have used these mugs daily for about two months now (light use, just around home and commuting to work), and the handles have broken on both mugs. The lower clip is poorly attached on to the mug, and it looks as if the spot where the attachment was welded had rusted and snapped off. We both really like these mugs since the lid seals well and the mug can hold a decent amount of liquid, and having a mug that can attach on to a messenger bag strap when not in use is handy. A little bit of JB weld solved the problem, but it's disappointing that the handle is poorly attached, which is why this only gets 3 stars instead of 4 or 5.
