Comments about Novara Divano Bike - 2013:

First things first, this bike is my first "roadie" if you will. My expectations at this price point were pretty minimal, but from what I was originally coming from, dang what a difference! This thing is fast! The braking performance of the calipers are actually pretty good! I have had no problems braking in wet weather and I often have to ride in the city where frequent unexpected stops are necessary. I love the brake lever shifters and the stiffness of the frame. I decided to ride with Shimano 105 SPD-SL road pedals for power transfer and for the long rides. The seat is pretty comfortable for a stock saddle, so definitely no complaints there. The tires are quite sticky on the road and quite confident on the corners. I'd say my only gripe is the shifting quality. The rear derailleur is quite responsive and reliable, but the front is another story. The chainrings are steel, and don't have much contouring on the inside ring to help the chain move from one ring to the other. It is just quite finicky and I feel that it detracts a little bit from the bike. Considering I bought the 2012 model on closeout and had a gift card, this thing was a steal! It's definitely a keeper that I can train on and enjoy for several years before I decide to upgrade! Great product!
