Fitbit Zip Wireless Activity Tracker is rated 4.1892 out of 5 by 37.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not accurate Wish this had a way to suspend the count while driving. It will add steps while riding in a car. I ride in a van pool to work every day and it's a bumpy ride. By the time I get to work, I've registered hundreds of steps. Should be able to override or reset to zero by the user.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's okay, but... The phone app and website leave a lot to be desired in terms of their interface. Worst of all, entering daily food intake is a real chore that I've grown weary of after only three days. You can call me lazy on this one, 'cause I'll confess that I'm unlikely to continue the onerous task unless the interface is improved. It's too bad because I know from several other similar apps that entering such data really can be efficient, fast, simple, & informative. Until the food log section of the app is improved, I'm unlikely to recommend this device.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but too expensive for what it does I wear it before I step out of my home and take off when I am back. Good stuff: It is a very simple device that counts steps. No rocket science. But it has probably gained a lot of traction because of the ease of use and easy-sync. I have never seen a device with more reliable sync. I just leave the USB dongle plugged into my laptop. I come home open my laptop and it syns without any effort. Bad stuff: 1. Only syncs with Bluetooth 3.0 ready smartphones. I was a little shocked when I realized it doesn't sync with my smartphone. But rightfully so. So I won't take points off. My smartphone is not Bluetooth 3.0 ready and if this device would have to use Bluetooth 2.0 then it's battery would die in a day. 3.0 is much more efficient. 2. I think the step readings are a bit inflated. 3. I found the website where you see charts and graphs a bit complex.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from needs a better case My husband and I both got one of these thru a health insurance incentive to take part in a Walk A Million Steps program. We tested them to see if they would accurately record the same amount of steps and they differed consistently ~ one was about 200 steps off every time. The only other thing was that I had trouble with mine falling out of the case that clips on to my pants and eventually I lost it one afternoon while we were in town. (My husband hasn't had this problem) I'm currently waiting to see if they will send me a new one at no charge (I've heard they will, 'they' being and also I'm contemplating getting the One for it's extra features and also to compare it to the Zip for accuracy. Over all I like it as it motivates me to move more when I lack motivation but it was frustrating that I had so much trouble getting it to stay in it's case. I was the one that wore the one that recorded less steps and as for that I was "okay" with that because I was walking so much anyway, it wasn't like I really needed them. I think if they came up with a case that was more secure I'd give it 5 stars but the difference in the count added in there I only gave it 3.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Motivater It motivates me to move--I put it one first thing in the morning and take it off the last thing at night. I have taken more walks, park further away from stores, walk around while talking on the phone and brushing my teeth. It is very light weight, does not interfere with clothes, easy to read, makes no noise and up dates to the computer every night. I use it for counting my steps. Not sure how it calculates calories. I do like when I can go to the computer and see my activity levels during the day. Great little gadget.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun to have and works surprisingly well The Fitbit seems to work well accurately counting steps no matter where I put it on my body. However, to count my cycling strokes, it needs to be on the leg, like in the bottom of a pocket. Even though it is only measuring up/down of one leg, it is counting two "steps" per pedal rotation (yea!). It must have pretty sophisticated internal software to understand what I am doing and count everything right, regardless of where I have clipped it, or what angle it is at, or even if it is loose in the bottom of my pocket. Synching works well, too, although you need to use the Bluetooth v3 USB dongle that comes with it if your computer/phone/pad/whatever is not using the latest version of Bluetooth. Surprisingly unobtrusive. Certainly the best pedometer I've ever owned, but also by far the most expensive (and thus a 4 star instead of a perfect 5).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love This! I have worn a pedometer daily for years. I have tried multiple models and I think this is my favorite. It's small and discreet. It is simple to use and the web interface that it works with is straight forward. I like the graphs that show when you are most active (they can also send you weekly summaries). I have and will continue to recommed this to friends. The only thing I haven't quiet figured out is if the faces (smiling, grinning etc) correspond to anything.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy setup, good motivation The fitbit zip is used in conjunction with the fitbit website for maximum utility. You can join and track for free but if you want more advanced charting and reports you need to become a premium member for about $50 per year. I have one and I bought my wife one of these and we use it to keep track of our exercise and food intake. It is motivating to see the progress thru the course of a day. The unit does a good job of computing your distance and calorie burn based on your height weight and age. There is also a chance to finetune this online. It has a pretty good database of common foods or you can use the nutrition label to create your own custom foods to keep track of carbs, fats and protein. Sometimes it takes a while to update the iPhone app but all in all this is a useful tool.
