Comments about REI Endeavor Pants - Women's Petite:

I was so excited to see that I could find a 0 petite in outdoor pants because usually none fit me. That made me even more disappointed to find that the "petite" must mean very little to REI because these were HUGE on me. I'm a 0 petite in jeans (or size 24), am 5'3 and 105 pounds (but I bike a lot and don't have stick legs) so I expected the 0 petites here to at least be workable. But there's an extra 3 or 4 inches in the waist, the pants are much too wide in the leg so they look boxy, and they are too long, so they are boxy, bunched up and sagging at the waist. There is no smaller size.

There is a string inside to cinch the pants although I cannot imagine how it would work well, especially for 3-4 inches. It gives the pants an "elastic" look (ew. sorry, I might like to be outdoors but I don't want to look 5 or middle aged when I am), is highly uncomfortable because it only cinches from one side (the other side is sewn shut for some reason) and then there is a huge knot that pokes into the side of your stomach (the knot being there is necessary if the cinch is necessary)--not something you want when putting a climbing harness on top of the pants.

I wanted to use these for rock climbing outdoors (indoors I use tighter yoga-style pants and/or running tights but they don't hold up well to tears on rocks) but with all of the above flaws they would be miserable under a harness and generally look terrible because of the poor fit.

At some point I hope that REI learns that when they make "petite" pants they should make them for actually "petite" people, not just mix together their kid's shape and adult sizes.

Needless to say, I will be returning them.

Comments about REI Endeavor Pants - Women's Petite:

Finally REI comes out with petite sizes! Thanks, REI. I wore these pants for a month straight during a recent trekking trip in Nepal. I'm 5'4" and 120lbs and they fit perfect. Material is thin yet strong, so the pants were comfortable in jungle temps to snow storms and held up to briars and rocks. I'll definitely wear these on my next adventure.

Comments about REI Endeavor Pants - Women's Petite:

I have two pairs of the 2012 endeavor pants, and love them, although the petite is a little long and I'm 5'5". I was very happy to see the addition of back pockets in 2013, since that was the only thing lacking on the 2012 model. However, the 2013 model is totally different in cut, construction and fit than the 2012 model. In the 2012 model the knees have a double layer of fabric, there are no seams across the knee, and the fit is comfortable. In the same size for the 2013 model, the knees only have a single layer of fabric, there is an odd pointless external seam line across the knee, and the fit is so tight that I look like I'm wearing emo pants. I will be returning the 2013 model.

Comments about REI Endeavor Pants - Women's Petite:

I had originally purchased a pair of North Face zip offs. I returned them due to poor fit and I really can't get used to the feel of the zip off seam when I walk. I purchased the 8 petite. At 5'1" 135 lb, I rarely find pants that don't drag on the ground, but these were at least 1/2 inch off the ground with my boots on. That said, they may run short if you are taller, but for me the fit was perfect. The fit is very flattering, but not extremely form fitting, which I prefer. They stayed cool and dry during a recent long desert peak hike, but the black soaked up the sun and warmed me up at the peak. Lots of boulder sliding and bushwacking but not a single snag or abrasion, and you get a really good range of motion due to the flexible fabric. The waist is perfect. Not too high, and not so low that you feel like your pants will fall off or show off your backside. The wide, soft waistband is super comfortable too. The only drawbacks I could find are the little knot for the drawstring really does jab into you if you don't tuck it in or pull it above the wasteband. The black does show the dirt and dust as well, which is not a big deal for me. I plan to buy these in a lighter color as well.

Comments about REI Endeavor Pants - Women's Petite:

These pants were my best purchase of the year, even at full price. At 5'4" it is hard to find petite length hiking pants, especially in a size 14. After trying on several different brands, these were perfect. The length allows just the right drape on my shoe, rather than the "high water" look of so many petites. A draw cord at the hems creates built-in gaitors.

I bought the black color, which is actually a bit greenish-black depending on the light. I've worn them hiking, traveling, skiing, on evenings out, and even to work in a professional setting and no one noticed I was wearing hiking pants. They are lightweight enough to be comfortable in summer and warm enough to wear cross country skiing in 18 degree temps with a base layer.

The pockets are intuitively placed and have security zippers. The thigh pocket is roomy enough for my big-screen android phone and a folded map, but not so big that it's intrusive.

At 165#, I am not as physically fit as I should be, so I end up scraping against boulders, getting caught on branches, falling while skiing, etc. Despite this, the fabric holds up extremely well. These pants also wash up well and dry fast without wrinkling.

One of the best features is the fit. The design, with its inside draw cord at the waist, allows for increases and decreases in my waist size while still looking sleek and flattering. The only drawback, and it is slight, is that the draw cord can be a bit uncomfortable--a flexible waist strap would have been a better choice. Using a belt (there are belt loops) circumvents this if you don't want to use the cord. Just don't pull the cord too tight and you'll be fine.

I would buy these in every color if I could. REI, keep them coming!
