Comments about Skullcandy Chops Around The Ear Earbuds - Black/Black:
I bought these wraparounds as a replacement for my regular earbuds, since regular earbuds will not stay in my ears while running/working out. The sound quality is good for the price, and they do stay on my ears while moving around. Unfortunately, they are VERY uncomfortable and cause me pain where the bud rests on the inner part of my ear. An improvment would be adding some sort of padding(rubber/foam) to the bud itself.

Comments about Skullcandy Chops Around The Ear Earbuds - Black/Black:
I bought these in early 2012 to replace a pair of around-the-ear earbuds that came with a Rio MP3 player I bought 6 to 7 years earlier. I purchased these Skullcandy buds because my Rio ones had developed a break in the wire near the plug and began to crackle frequently. I apparently have small ear canals, because plain ear buds just plain hurt after 15 minutes of use, which is why I use the around-the-ear style. I used both while jogging, airplane traveling, and mowing.
Although you shouldn't be looking for amazing clarity out of a pair of twenty dollar buds, I did find these didn't sound as good as the Rio pair that came with my old MP3 player. IMHO the sound quality was a little disappointing.
After about 10 months of use the Skullcandy buds have already developed a break in the wire that is causing a crackle in the sound whenever the cord gets moved into a certain position. While jogging, this occurs with every stride. While mowing, it occurs frequently enough to cause extreme aggravation and lower my motivation to mow :). While traveling it's marginally acceptable.
The Skullcandy buds were comfortable, but not quite as comfortable as the Rio pair. These also protruded out more from the ear than the Rios, making them less comfortable under my ear protectors when mowing (I use ear protectors when I mow so I can listen to music at a normal volume). This is definitely not a big deal, but is a nuisance.
I normally choose higher quality items that will last over the bottom dollar (which is part of the reason I shop at REI), but occasionally succumb to the allure of cheap products. I will definitely be spending more on my next pair of around-the-ear earbuds.
Disclosure: I rarely write reviews and when I do, write about 2-3 bad reviews for every good one. I also did not contact Skullcandy with my issue. If you decide to purchase these I hope that my bade experience was the exception and not the rule.
