    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Garmin Swim Watch is rated 4.25 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very useful but require some patience This is a very useful training tool. It can be a tad inuccurate: if you have poor stroke technique. Realizing that, it made me pay much more attention to my stroke, and the problem was resolved. Concerning the "inaccuracy" issue: poor hand placement will lead the device to misread the stroke type. Also, if you have issues with maintaining a smooth stroke, the device will add laps. This is not a shortcoming on the device. So rather than solely on the device for lap count, I would recommend looking at the session data once it's uploaded to the Garmin website. A bit frustrating at first, but worth the investment. There is a lack of clear instruction on Garming parts: especially when it comes to use the drill feature. The watch can not measure kicking drill so it needs to be added manually during a work out (but it can be added during the session). I personnally figured how to use that specific feature at home. Overal, it's a great training tool.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smart Watch It doesn't really record the distance you swim but just calculate the distance according the pool length you entered. Though it's smart enough to add the length when you touch the wall of the pool. I don't feel the result is accurate so far, maybe because I am still learning how to use it, but it's already a big help for me to finish 500m without pushing the buttom for each lap. This elegant watch is also big enough for reading the numbers in water and dark. I like it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from easy to set up and use Just got it and set up was a breeze. Then after using it, I downloaded the information to my computer and found way more information than I could ever use. If you like lots of stats then you will love this. Very comfortable too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! I only do laps in an Olympic size pool in NYC and this is exactly what I was looking for. The navigation on the watch is easy to use and the buttons are very easy to operate while in the water. It took me about 20 minutes to get the drivers installed and the watch synced to Garmin Connect, which by the way does not work on the Safari browser but does work on FireFox. The reason it took so long to install was because the instructions don't mention anything about how to go about doing this. Once I figured it out my jaw dropped when I saw all the information that the watch had acquired during my swim. Very cool stats, although some of it is a little over the top for what I wanted. I am loving the watch and will use it every time I go for a swim.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from LOVE this watch So, since I started swimming again for weight loss, I could never keep up with the laps and pace and became rather spoiled with my forerunner and edge tracking my workouts- I got the swim watch. My first swim was the start of my learning curve. I have learned it will only track the lengths you are swimming one of the four strokes- so, in turn I now swim my leg laps with a kickboard after I finish my workout with the watch and thats fine for me and is not a dealbreaker either. There is a bit of mystery of what meters I actually swam when i pause to the next interval as it always seems to surprise me with extra meters. I find there must either be some errors in the algorhytmic computation or a bumpy beginning because I swim the same full, complete stroke the entire length from start to finish and sometimes the watch does not count the meters until after I pause to start a new interval. Again, this is not a deal breaker for me either- it makes me push myself harder than I think I would without it. I bought this as a birthday present for myself, but its gives me alot in return.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Another great Garmin product! Every so often the watch will record the incorrect swim stroke, so I called Garmin to see if they could manually adjust the error. Unfortunately, they could not make the correction and considering Garmin takes pride in "accuracy" I was a little disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it It does what it is asked to do, and it does it well. If you're a swimmer / triathlete and want an indoor pool watch get it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice tool, hardware so-so quality I have been using the Garmin Swim for a little over 18 months -- I essentially bought it as soon as it was available. I swim approximately 6k-10k yards per week, all freestyle and would consider myself a poor swimmer by "real" swimmer standards, but a decent triathlete swimmer. For me the watch has always been really accurate for both distance measured and stroke type (granted I only swim freestyle, it was always correct). I would say I am happy to have the tool to record my activity and progression. With that information alone, I would have rated it 5 stars! Why do I give it 3 stars? I bought a second watch after owning mine for about 8 months; this one was for my wife's use. She uses the device less than I (approximately 1/2 to 1/3 as much) and has a little worse accuracy... one in awhile her's will add a few lengths or miss a few. It isn't totally predictable where it happens, but it does from time to time. Next, her watch (At 13 months old) has a seemingly broken start/stop button... the watch simply does not acknowledge it being pressed anymore. This is ultimately the reason for my lower rating. I am contacting both REI and Garmin to see if I can get an exchange, although technically both are 1 year warranties. It would be a real shame if the Swim has reached it's true end of life at 13 months, in that case I don't think I would risk buying another.
