These are awesome light weight sandals for floating the river or to have in your pack for extra footware at the end of a hike. The toe strap fits me fine, I didnt have any problems with it. Love them!!

I'm about to go backpacking with these-thankfully I broke them in the past week. The strap around the pad of foot chafed only on my right foot-and it was only where the bone sort of rubs against the sandal, once broken in, it was no longer a problem. In addition to the that, it takes a couple of days for the soles of my soft feet to adapt to the friction, and mine have gotten use to these quicker than usual.

I wanted these for backpacking because I can wear them in water, the sole is really sticky for walking on wet rocks, and of course they are lightweight-and easily packable (can strap to the outside of pack for easy access).

CONS: I have received blisters from the middle strap on both feet. They do seem like the rubbing is lessoning, but I haven't been able to wear them enough lately to tell. At this point in time, I would not trust this sandal for long hikes.

As others have said, the toe strap does come a little tight - however, after some wear they losen up.

One thing I have noticed is that, even with the minimal amount I've worn them, they are starting to carry some feet stinkage.

They don't work well when wet (I mean, really wet) or muddy. My feet practically slip right out of them.

PROS: These sandals are very cute, and I've received many compliments from them. When worn, I barely notice they are on - feels like I'm practically barefoot. I'm really hoping the rubbing stops with some more wear - when standing, they feel like they are a perfect match for my feet. The blisters aren't excrusiating, so if you think you can put up with it, go for it.

The REI price was fantastic compared to other on-line places. The sandals are light enough to be rolled up and packed in the suitcase for an extra pair of shoes while traveling.

These sandals are uncomfortable and run too small. The big toe strap hurts! I ended up sending mine back.

I know others have mentioned the toe loop, but I have zero problems with it. I bought these on sale over the winter, and I have just been waiting for the weather to warm up so I can finally wear them and review them. I alternate between stylish high heels and minimal vibram five fingers or new balance minimus sneakers every day. These sandals not only seemed nice and minimal, but also cute in an outdoorsy, ready-for-adventure way. I think I'll be wearing them quite a bit over the summer. They will also get packed for many trips simply because they take practically no space in a bag. My vibrams are size 38 and 39 (KSO and classic), and I bought these in size 8.

These sandals are so comfortable that this is my second pair. I really like the "barefoot feel" as I walk more naturally with the thin soles than with the thicker heavier sandals. My feet never hurt even if I'm on my feet all day. They also look more feminine than thicker heavier sport sandals. I wear them every day in the summer.

These are really comfy sandals. I read a lot of reviews that the toe strap was too tight. I didn't have a problem with that. There's two 'layers' to the toe strap which is strange to me, but it works. They're very light. I look forward to using them this summer.
