I needed a coat for when the temp reached zero. This one fits the bill. The fit is tapered which makes the coat loose around the chest but not bulky around the waist. About the only thing that I don't care for are the alpine pockets. They are high than normal and not as natural for standing around with you hands in your pockets. On the plus side, they are huge pockets and hold anything. There are also plenty of other small zippered pockets for odds and ends. Also, there are closable vents under the armpits. Lots of adjustments to customize the fit.

I bought this jacket/parka for teaching in the Alaskan Bush where I can expect to see -50 during the winter. So far this jacket has not disappointed in any area except the fit. I bought a XXL (I'm a little on the fat side) and I knew I would need to layer so I went big. The XXL size was almost to small. Luckily for me, I have lost some more weight since I have been here. The jacket now fits me comfortably.
In comparison I wear a XL in Marmot products. So I think you should order a size larger than you would normally get if this is your first NF purchase (as it was my first NF purchase).
I took it out the other day in -40 temps and went for a 45 minute walk. I was sweating 5 minutes into my walk (I was wearing a fleece and down layer underneath). This was the first time I have layerd this jacket. Our previous temps for the last month have ranged from 0 to -23 and I have just worn this jacket with my sweater or long sleeve shirt and have been very warm.
