Comments about K2 LockJaw Carbon/Alu Probe Ski Poles - Men's:
Used these for a week in the British Columbia Selkirk back country and was pleased that I brought them rather than the many other choices I had. Compared with my carbon BD adjustable poles, they may be heavier (reason I withheld 5th star, and if that is important then spend more and get the K2 all carbon model), but the adjustment works better (tighter locking with less clamp tension, and operable with gloves or mittens), the length range is greater, and the round symmetrical baskets are a convenience (never pointed the wrong way). Also these baskets do not snag tree branches, nor did they load up with heavy snow. Slope meter and snow depth gauge are fun, and of some use. Grips are excellent. Top tip of grip works perfectly to flip Dynafit Radical climbing posts. Straps are broad and comfortable and hold themselves open permitting easy one hand entry with mittens. Upper shafts (the carbon part) have enough roughness to permit slip-free "choking up" on the uphill pole when climbing skin tracks, though I also adder rubber grip surface by winding bicycle inner tube down about 6" from grips. Of the countless adjustable poles I have owned, these are now my favorites. Too bad I bought them for my son.
