this jacket tag itself as alpine soft shell but it is neither "waterproof" nor "windproof". it is not a jacket with membrane. it sheds water and wind by the tight weaved outer material. SO it is best to tag with a daily use soft and stretch jacket. But the big hood is designed for a head with helmet.
