I just received these pants and the size runs small. My waist is in the middle of the size range and it's very snug. The crotch is also extremely tight making the pants unwearable. I couldn't even think about trying to get a pair of long underwear under them. I will exchange them for an XL and I'm hoping that will do the trick, because at this price, you just can't beat it.
They are the thicker 200 weight, but only weigh 11 oz. according to the specs. That ought to work just fine for shoulder season backpacking trips in the western mountains.
I like the zippered hand pockets, but the lower leg zips don't matter to me on polartec pants. I wish they had a drawcord waist instead of just elastic. I hope that exchanging for the next larger size won't make that an issue.
I'll have to see how the XL fit when they come and I'll report back. I only gave it 3 stars for now and will hopefully upgrade that shortly.
