This is a great looking garment. I purchased it to wear as a sweater rather than a jacket. It's warm, almost too warm at times, to wear all day inside. It has an athletic fit and thus is a little tight, which makes it feel a little stifling. Washing it a few times seems to have helped.

Great fleece to wear on it's own or for layering. Went skiing with it when the wind chill was below zero and it was perfect to wear under my ski jacket. Would recommend it to anyone!

A very warm sweater - I wore it with other layers in northern Europe while travelling, and it did the job. You will need a windbreaker with it, however. Based on that experience, I think it would be a great addition during a cold backpacking trip. The collar is great in the cold, as well.
My main con is that it is not really an athletic fit - it tends to look a bit big and baggy.
