Comments about Black Diamond Voyager Lantern:
Good light, works well. A little on the heavy side but not uncomfortably so.

Comments about Black Diamond Voyager Lantern:
Love this lantern. I own this and all of Black Diamonds other models. I would highly recommend this or any of their models for backpacking, car camping, and general use (blackouts, etc). All have great battery life and have proven to be very durable.

Just a great light when no electric. Adjustable light output helping to stretch out battery life. Appears well made.

Comments about Black Diamond Voyager Lantern:
I got this lantern for weekend camping with my son and his Cub Scout pack. At this point it is car camping but later on as he grows I expect we will be doing some backpacking so this is a nice compromise in size as it is noticeably smaller than the Apollo and seems to put out as much light. It is only slightly larger than the Orbit. However, the big improvement is that you now have a light that shines underneath the normal lantern--a dark unlighted area with the Orbit, Apollo and Titan (I have all three). As to the lamp underneath the lantern being a flashlight, it is very diffuse (i.e., not focused into a tight beam) and therefore does not provide useful light for more than 6-10 feet. All in all, a great new product that takes the place of the Apollo in my mind. If I need another lantern, I will purchase this one instead of the Apollo.

Comments about Black Diamond Voyager Lantern:
This lantern was used in a remote village where there was no electricity. It allowed me to function normally at night and yet was barely a footnote in my luggage footprint. The refined engineering, materials and design make this lantern a pleasure to own and opperate.

Comments about Black Diamond Voyager Lantern:
Used this lantern this week for loss of electricity at my home after Hurricane Sandy hit.
It was bright, efficient, adjustable. It lite up my kitchen, and then my dining room.it was plenty bright, made people comfortable. The batteries lasted for past 8 hrs of use.
We looked at the lantern and saw how well it was designed and constructed.
I'm really happy with it and will be buying another, as soon as they get them back in stock at my local, store.
Comments about Black Diamond Voyager Lantern:
A couple of weeks ago, I bought the Titan. To be honest, I wasn't that thrilled given the size and reported output. I decided I would return it. I saw this new model listed and given the flashlight mode that eliminates the dark spot, I'd give this one a try (at a lower cost). I tested it vs. the Orbit and Titan, and I can tell this will be my favorite. Even without the lower light on, the under dark spot is rather minimal.
If there is one tiny flaw, it's the tolerance on the sliding plastic (and this is being really nitpicky). The globe isn't as tight around the body as the Orbit and Titan.
When you take it out of the box you'll play with it (of course w/o reading the instructions) and think the button patterns don't make sense. Then you get used to it and then it becomes clear.

Comments about Black Diamond Voyager Lantern:
in tent, in the campsite, walking at night to light path...great little light, well made, especially like the hooks on top to hang in tent. Thought it was a little pricey but well worth the investment. Sometimes its the little things that make your life easier that you enjoy the most.
Comments about Black Diamond Voyager Lantern:
Let me first off state that I have tested a massive variety of camping/emergency-light-source lanterns to include battery operated, candle powered & fuel mantle lanterns, and without a doubt this lantern is the best/wins hands down when it comes down to terms of brightness, efficiency & most importantly, even disbursement of light (both horizontally as well as vertically – see pix!) . This even includes the fact that I have owned & both used Black Diamond's Apollo & Orbit model Lanterns!
To provide a quick synopsis, this lantern is not only bright enough to illuminate a plentiful area of light in 32 ft. in diameter (the manufacturers specs), but it actually illuminates even further! Also, it is extremely efficient in battery consumption considering the fact that I field tested this particular lantern @ 25° F on high using BOTH DoublePower LEDs, and it lasted for a solid eight hours running off of eneloop's XX rechargeable AA batteries (Low-Self-Dischage 2,500 mAh rated). Lastly, this is the only lantern that I have EVER owned to date, that has not only outputted an even amount of light horizontally, but has also done so vertically! Meaning there is not one single lantern out there to date that I have tested (to include fuel mantles), that can triumph the output of even angles of lights that this lantern can provide. I.E., all axes' of illumination has been easily covered by this lantern!
Bottom line, do not look or shop anywhere else for a lantern, than this one. You will not be disappointment!
