Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Rated5out of5byfromSimple but EffectiveThere are many great lights with lots of exciting features on the market. It would be easy to over buy and over pay. After reading lots of reviews, I decided to err on the side of economical and simple vs. paying extra dollars for more features at the expense of ease of use. This light does everything I need it to do around the campsite. It only has for settings - low red, high red, low white and high white. It is very simple to use - just press the large button on top of the light until you get the desired setting. The headlamp is easily swiveled up and down and stays in place. The head strap is still very comfortable after wearing for an hour or two. They thought of the little things too. The strap buckle can be used to easily pry open the battery compartment - absolutely no hassle changing batteries. What I really like is that the lights cycle through the settings from low to high so that you don't inadvertently waste battery on a high settings when you don't need it. If you need a light for frequent extended trail hikes after dark, I would go with a brighter light that is waterproof. However, for my intended use around the campsite, you can't go wrong with this light - very high quality, easy to use and a great price point.

Rated3out of5byfromDon't get it wetThis lamp fits its purpose nicely. It is small, light weight, bright, and the red LED is a must. I like that it turns on in low red mode (all lamps should do this). I used this lamp for the last year without any problems and the beam was perfect for hiking up Mt Whitney in the dark. However, when I got back I left it in my pocket and it went through the washing machine. Admittedly it was my fault but I was disappointed to see it was full of water. The light is dead now!! seems like a bad idea to have a headlamp that is submitted to the rain not be waterproof. The next light will have a waterproof rating.

Rated5out of5byfromGreat for Astronomy! This is the same format as the Princeton Tec Fuel, but has 1 red LED and 3 white. I found this headlamp to be perfect for astronomy as well as naked-eye observing, because it turns on in the red mode always, but started using it for everything. I quickly began to value the red-light on feature (no blinding yourself when you need to fumble for the toilet paper at 3 AM), so much so that I wonder why that sort of thing, or at least turning the light on in low mode, aren't standard... It does alright for walking around at night on wide paths or well-mainted trails, but if I was to do heavier night hiking I would be taking either a hand-held high-power flashlight or a more powerful headlamp. It gets 5 stars from me because, frankly, it is perfect for what I use it for, and I don't expect unrealistic things from products.
