Comments about REI Down Gloves:

The glove was used shared with a beginner snowboarder that touced the snow and ice regularly throughout the morning. The glove eventually allowed water to seep through but the overall glove warmth was maintained.

This glove was a great value.

        Comments about REI Down Gloves:

These gloves are not a bit warmer than typical outdoor gloves with thinsulate. Don't waste your money on these expensive gloves because they say "down". If thinsulate does it for you then get the same protection at box stores for $10.00 -$20.00. Only thing that really keeps you warm in mid-Winter temps are quality mittens with a waterproof shell to insure the mittens stay dry. This is where to invest your money.

          Comments about REI Down Gloves:

I recently took this gloves on a trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming where the temperature bottomed out at -27 Farenheit.
These gloves are great for the price, if you're main concern is warmth at moderately cold temperatures. They're just a bit bulky, but they're warm so it's a trade-off.
When the temperature plummeted to -27 my hands did get cold within five minutes but these gloves weren't built for that kind of climate so I can't tax their merit based on the circumstances.
The REI Down Gloves seem best suited for temperatures of 15 degrees for idle activity levels and -5 for for active use.

              Comments about REI Down Gloves:

Style and fit were just what I was looking for. Unfortunately, on a 20 degree day, wind chill of 8, walking the dogs for about 45 min., my fingers were so cold and numb I was worried about frostbite. I was hoping for a multiuse glove that would include a few ice fishing trips. Not in the future for these. Back to the store they go.

              Comments about REI Down Gloves:

I'm 5'2", and bought the men's small to use with handwarmer liners. I wanted a warm glove that would work in cold windy conditions while hang gliding. I have not had a chance to try these out in these conditions. So I took these gloves out for a long walk with my dog (3hrs) in 10-15 degree cloudy day. I wore a handwarmer gloveliner inside and my hands were comfortable for the whole walk. I did notice though, that the grip became quite stiff on the hand that was not holding the leash. So in very cold temperatures the grips will get stiff.

I have also worn them Hang Gliding for about 20 minutes without liners/warmers in 40+ degree weather and was comfortable. These are a little bulky and dexterity is somewhat limited obviously. Overall a good cold weather glove as long as you are moving around. I develop cold hands easily, so they might work just fine alone for those with warmer metabolisms.
