Comments about Scarpa Gea RS Randonee Boots - Women's - 2012/2013:
Most use is long backcountry tours in Alaska, but I am so impressed by this boot that I will use it for more sidecountry and even resort than I have previous AT boots.
Having evolved through the Spirit 3, Diva, original Gea, and Shaka to the Gea RS, I can honestly say that Scarpa hit the mark on this one! Light like the original Gea with the amazing walk mode, the new RS is stiffer and skis like a dream. I am currently in Japan and have a Duke/Lange alpine setup as well as a dynafit/Gea RS setup and find I have so much control/power in the Gea RS that its all I am skiing, even on inbounds storm days. I really can:t say enough about how impressed I am with these boots!

Comments about Scarpa Gea RS Randonee Boots - Women's - 2012/2013:
This is my first AT boot purchase and I am very pleased. Phenomenal!!! I have been wearing them for 5 days. At first the liner seemed stiff around the tongue and difficult to get the adjustment/fit just right. Each day they seem more and more comfortable and less time needed for adjustment. My previous boots weigh 11 pounds per pair (ugh), these weigh just under 7.
I utilize them primarily for skiing and hiking short distances to the ridge. I do not partake in any touring however, I really wanted the vibram sole, light weight and the walk/ski mode. To get the ski mode (tilt forward) you must push your shin forward while putting boot in ski mode. At first, I was unaware of this so I was skiing too upright which caused me to lean back and get out of control. It was dreadful..Hiking and walking in these boots is effortless. I am a fairly aggressive skier so they seem to have great support. Just love them...The flap is a bit of a nuisance however, I figured out a way to leave it in place when entering and exiting the boot. To remove, place in walk mode, while pulling foot out, push on the back/top of shell behind the calf, not the liner. Strange but true. On, put in walk mode and simply put it on!! Great discovery.
So far, they are great!!!
