I'm not a skier or camper, so I was a little nervous about buying a coat whose product literature made it sound like part of some complicated multi-layer system. But it was a great deal on sale, and I'm glad I bought it. It absolutely works as a normal stand-alone coat. The super-lightweight padding is warm on freezing days yet breathable enough to wear in moderate weather, which we have more of here in Portland, and our heavy rains just roll right off the fabric. I'm not a big waterproof fan, so I was pleasantly surprised by the fabric here, which has no plastic-baggie feel at all, more like a well-worn security blanket. But the real beauty of this jacket is that it's a parka that looks like a tailored layering piece, with its unusual, flattering seams and sleeve points. It doesn't bind in the chest (I'm D cup), and comfortably accommodates less-than-perfect waist & hips while still holding its hourglass shape.

I was looking for a stylish, fitted coat that was not too bulky or heavy, this jacket fits the bill! It is very warm but also lightweight and, with a larger purse, can be rolled up and stuffed inside for nights out on the town or when weather is more unpredictable. Very happy with this purchase!

Found this coat on sale two days before leaving on a trip to Paris and London with girlfriends. Wanted something warm, but lightweight and somewhat fashionable (it IS Paris!).
This coat could not have been more perfect! It was cold (24 degrees) and we encountered snow, wind, and rain on our vacation, yet I was warm and dry in my new coat.
The fit was perfect: sleeves were long enough, it hit mid-thigh, room through the chest and shoulders. Just love it! Highly recommend!

This coat is NOT for bitter cold winter days in MN or WI with windchill of -25 (really, nothing could keep you warm then). This coat is not for rainy winter in Seattle or Portland because it is not waterproof. This coat is lightweight, comfortable, stylish, and warm. I needed lighter coat that I could wear over jeans or business casuals and this is perfect!
Runs larger for Arcteryx. Most of my Arcteryx jackets are medium but I had to get Small and still had room for layers. I am 5'3, 127 lbs.
