not happy so far and had a horrible time actually getting the product shipped to me.

Service and delivery comments:

I would have to say that I was extremely dissappointed with the service/delivery of this product. To start with I was told I should get the Bike within 7-10 business and it was suppose to arrive on a certain date. Ten days went by and I received no tracking information for the product so I called customer service and they informed me that the bike had not even been shipped yet. And couldn't explain to me why it hadn't and also couldn't explain why I hadn't been notified about it. They told me it would be shipping in two days. Which would get the bike there just in time for my son's bday which is what the bike was for. Two days later when I called back they said now it would be here until the next week, this was suppose to be an in store pick up. But then I told them that this is for a bday and now my son wouldn't have anything for several days. They then agreed to ship another one to my house because they couldn't find out where or when the other one would really be at the store. 6 days later I received the bike. All that to say that i was very frustrated with this whole process and didn't expect this from a company that I have been very happy with in the past. My son does like the bike but the chain keeps coming off and the tire has already had a flat, which he has never had with any of his other bikes. I am hoping this product holds up and we have a better experience then we did with just trying to get the bike actually here.

We have two of these bikes...5 & 7 yr old boys. Great quality bike at a great price. The only downfall is the grip shift is nearly impossible for a 5-7 yr old to shift....which renders it useless. I took both the bikes back into my local REI and they said they will replace the grip shift with a paddle shifter...FREE OF CHARGE...since it's a "known" defect. THIS is why I shop at REI....customer service! Thank you REI for standing behind this almost-perfect bike. I can't wait to get my 7 yr old back out on Whoops trail with his new paddle shifters! Yeehaa!

I like the gears and brakes. When I am going down a big hill and want to turn I do my brakes, but not all the way, just a little bit, so I go slower and don't hit the fence. I used the bike to go to school.

Just fits a 2nd grader. Will get to small by end of 3rd grade:)

Great first "real" bike with gears! We took the pedals off initially for some balance practice and then signed him up for a REI "Learn to Ride for kids" class at the local REI the first week he had the bike. After the 2-hour class, the confidence had soared and he was riding in circles around obstacles. A week later, he was riding across lawns, park trails and riding up a 45 degree slope while changing gears. Best experience and his skills are still growing!
