    The Arc'teryx Beta AR mittens don't disappoint on cold alpine adventures. They keep your hands warm and provide the dexterity required to grasp ice axes, ropes and ski poles.

    • Rugged nylon shells with Gore-Tex® Pro Shell 3L waterproof breathable laminate technology shed snow and keep moisture out so you can enjoy winter with dry hands
    • Removable liners feature low-profile Polartec® Thermal Pro® tweed fleece at the palms and under the fingers; high-loft Polartec Wind Pro® insulates the backs
    • 2 fabrics in the liner mittens leaves the fingertips very nimble for great dexterity
    • Removable liners give you the option to wear only the shells or liners and speeds up drying should the mittens get wet
    • Fixed wrist elastic eliminates the need for straps and buckles that add weight and bulkiness
    • Leather palm overlays wrap only over the tips of the fingers rather than all the way down the backs of the fingers to keep weight to a minimum and maintain fast drying times
    • Short gauntlets fit under or over jacket sleeves
    • Arc'teryx Beta AR mittens come with loops on the fingers that let you clip them to a climbing harness in the upright position

        I picked these up because I wanted to experiment with a lighter mitten... specifically if they were still sufficiently warm without all the bulk of the very large mittens. I brought them with me to Ouray as emergency back up but ended up using them because my normal gloves got soaked and they worked a treat. The articulation and construction of the mitten actually means that the dexterity is better than the ice climbing gloves I use and my hands stayed warmer. I have small hands and my little finger is much shorter than the other fingers (so gloves are always a problem for me) but these fit beautifully. Give them a try ice climbers!
