Comments about Novara Carema Women's Bike - 2013:
I've had some bikes as a kid and a cheap and clunky one for college, but I'd say that the Carema is my first "real" bike. I mostly biked to commute between classes as a college student, but now that I qualify as a "young adult," I discovered that I did miss biking recreationally, and I guess I'm kind of environmentally- and health-conscious like so many other Californians that I decided to splurge for a good bike. I could've bought a much more expensive bike, but REI has the 20% of sale, and for a beginner like me, there wasn't really a point in getting a super fancy schmancy Cannondale (yet).
I decided to buy the Carema because the specs were good and for the price, it was great for a novice/recreational biker like myself. If you don't buy this bike for its price, quality (again, there are better and lighter bikes out there, for sure, but for this price the quality is great), or whatever other way you want to justify yourself, but it for the looks!
This bike is amazingly pretty; I wouldn't say the color is "Blue Cloud" - more of a "Seafoam Green," actually - but regardless: This. Bike. Is. Very. Pretty. I've ridden it a handful of times over the weekends and afterwork and every time have been complimented by other cyclists/people.
It handles well and the seat isn't really too bad if you've got the right cushiony-spandex on. My distance rides from 5 miles - 25 miles depending on what other activities I'm doing that week.
