The Outdoor Research Chaos jacket is a classic alpine, ice and winter backcountry jacket. This layer shields you from howling wind and cold, damp conditions.

  • Highly weather-resistant, breathable WindStopper® shell fabric blocks the force of a storm, and strategically distributed PrimaLoft® Eco insulation maximizes warmth
  • PrimaLoft Eco melds 50% recycled material with PrimaLoft virgin fibers to create high loft, thermally efficient insulation that's lightweight and water resistant
  • Hood is generously sized and adjustable to fit over a climbing helmet
  • 2-way, water-resistant front zipper with internal stormflap blocks wind and lets you adjust ventilation
  • Elastic cuffs have rip-and-stick tabs for adjustability

      This is a great jacket for the cold. It's sized so you can throw it on over your other layes, shell, etc. and keep warm. I've worn it teaching classes in -5 degree weather where I haven't been moving and its keep me toasty warm. The Gore Windstopper shell sheds light snow and blocks the wind.

        I had picked out a Marmot jacket for my husband for Christmas - as he is always saying he is going to die from the cold. He didn't feel it was warm enough and returned it for this one. He loves this OR jacket! He has walked the dog in freezing temps with only a t-shirt underneath. It seems to be as warm as down, but still provides great protection from the wind and rain/sleet.

            This jacket is great because it adds the one thing all other synthetic insulated layers are missing - GORE! It's basically water-proof, seems like everyone else is wetting out and my Chaos is still totally dry. Big burly cut fits over everything else you've got on.
