Updated to be lighter and more responsive, the Saucony ProGrid Ride 5 women's road-running shoes serve up plenty of cushioning in a lithe, agile platform for neutral runners.

  • Highly breathable nylon mesh uppers feature synthetic leather overlays for structure; forefoot lockdown supplies a snug fit
  • Nylon linings and plush collars breathe well, wick moisture and dry quickly to keep your feet cool and comfortable
  • Breathable insoles are constructed from open-cell foam to provide plenty of cushioning underfoot; antimicrobial treatment deters odors
  • Responsive EVA midsoles maintain rebound over the miles; strobel board construction increases cushioning and comfort
  • Thermoplastic urethane shanks control torsional flex at midfoot for light arch support
  • Special impact zones cushion heel and forefoot impact, and reduce shock while setting foot for a smooth transition
  • 8mm heel-to-toe drop encourages a short, low-impact stride
  • Outsoles on the Saucony ProGrid Ride 5 shoes utilize blown rubber under forefeet for cushioning and flex; carbon rubber at heels deliver traction

        I've been buying this model of Saucony shoes for several years now. Once I found this model I've stuck with it and this year's ProGrid Ride 5 did not disappoint. I need good arch support, room in the toe box, and cushioning but have to say I love the fun colors this year. I run 10 to 15 miles a week and love that I can slip these shoes fit so well I don't even think about my feet.

          Am actually writing this review for my wife.

          My wife recently developed plantar fasciitis and our doctor told her she needed to get some better shoes (I have been telling her that for years). Aftr the doctor's office she agrees to check out REI's shoes and more importantly talk to a shoe specialist.

          The specialist talked her through various styles / purposes of the shoes they carried and then worked with her to find the right shoes for her condition.

          When they were done, my wife picked these out and loves them. She has even told some of her friends to go to REI and get these shoes.
