Comments about Merrell Norsehund Beta Waterproof Winter Boots - Men's:
I bought these boots for a trip to the Arctic to photograph the Northern Lights. I knew I'd be out in the cold at night for long periods and wanted to be warm. The boots were perfect. I did also purchase the wool liners for the bottom as well. I was taking pictures of animals in Anchorage and stepped in a deep slushy puddle - no problem. I stood there taking pictures - boots dry inside and warm. I bought a size larger than my normal size to have room for the expedition wool socks' thickness, and it's recommended that you do not wear cold weather boots that are too tight- you need some air space. Another good decision, as the comfort with the heavy socks was good. I wore these through the airports from Richmond to Anchorage because I didn't want to pack them. No big deal. They look cool. I also bought gaiters for deep snow which I used and they worked great to keep snow out.

Comments about Merrell Norsehund Beta Waterproof Winter Boots - Men's:
I grew up in New England. Lots of time standing in the snow. ALWAYS had cold feet. Not with these boots! First I've ever owned that worked for me. It might be that my wide feet had the blow flow constricted some in other boots. Which leads to my second point: these boots are more comfortable than some sneakers I've owned. Highly recommended.

Comments about Merrell Norsehund Beta Waterproof Winter Boots - Men's:
I purchased these boots for general winter use, especially for snowshoeing. The boots have been proven extremely warm, and work well with my gaiters. Good support in the ankle area, perhaps not as good as a full leather boot, but quite enough for snowshoe use. Indoors, the boots are almost too warm when just sitting around. Walking around a bit pumps air into and out of the boots to keep things cooler. Traction is very good; indoors the rubber treads feel a bit soft, so if you are in warm environments there might be more wear than usual. Once out in the cold the tread is just right for those temps; think winter tires for your feet...

Comments about Merrell Norsehund Beta Waterproof Winter Boots - Men's:
I bought these boots to get me through the winter during a deployment to Afghanistan.
I can tell you the boots are very warm and fit the bill for comfort and ability to handle the rough terrain.
However they do not fit the bill for being waterproof. After only owning these boots for 5 weeks 4 of which were in Afghanistan. The snow rain and slush all seep into the boots. I originally thought the wetness was due to foot sweat but as the water and slush got worse so did the Leaking.

Comments about Merrell Norsehund Beta Waterproof Winter Boots - Men's:
I'm experimenting with winter biking and my decades old snowmobile boots, while plenty warm, offer poor traction on the pedals and were even worse putting my feet down on the ice at intersections. I got these as a replacement and love how comfortable and planted they are. So far I've only used them down to about 4 F, so i'm not positive on cold weather performance, but I'm giving it a check since they are so warm at 20-30 and I haven't tried them with thick socks so I'm fairly confident they'll be good for me down to -15 to 20 which is about as cold as I venture outside. The only moisture I've experienced is road spray, so I'm not able to comment on waterproof level yet. They are good at breathing and so far have always felt drier than the wicking layers of pants and shirts.

Comments about Merrell Norsehund Beta Waterproof Winter Boots - Men's:
Overall I am extremely happy with this purchase. The boots are warm and comfortable.
The only negative feedback is that in really cold weather the soles do not provide any traction on ice. I felt like Bambi...
