The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Powertraveller Powermonkey Explorer Solar Battery Charger:
You need 4-5 hours of full sun to charge the battery pack. Once charged the battery pack charges my Android phone almost as fast as a wall chargr. Taking it on a 5 day camping/fishing trip. Hoping for some sunny days to keep cell phone charged.
The wall charger charges the battery pack quickly.

Comments about Powertraveller Powermonkey Explorer Solar Battery Charger:
I am an ultralight luxury backpacker and the REI specs said 2.9 ounces so I thought this was the charger for me. I got it home and the panel and the battery are about 8 ounces. If you add in all the extra connectors I am guessing 14 plus ounces. The devise says it will charge a phone 3 times. Well maybe a regular phone, but a smart phone it will almost charge one time. Right after using the solar panel only, on my Android phone, my SD mini card would not connect. It might have been pure coincidence but I read on another devise not to strictly use a small solar panel on a smart phone because the phone draws more than the panel makes. You need to draw from the battery pack. They might make note of this in the packaging. I really wanted to like this devise but ended up taking it back.

Comments about Powertraveller Powermonkey Explorer Solar Battery Charger:
I travel a lot and completely depend on my smart phone. The Power Monkey gives me enough backup power to get through the day, no matter how much I use the phone for data or calls. Only change I'd make to the amazing design would be a wide, stretchy strap to hold the power pod against the phone. Otherwise, I have to carefully hold the USB in place the entire time to keep it from disconnecting. Even with that small shortcoming, I'm sure I sold at least 10 people on this model of the Monkey during my last trip.

Comments about Powertraveller Powermonkey Explorer Solar Battery Charger:
I purchased the PowerMonkey Explorer to take on the John Muir Trail so that I can keep my iPhone charged (which will then serve as my camera, book reader, and note-taking device). I have been using the PowerMonkey in advance of the hike to make sure it works. It doesn't. Based on other reviews, I am wondering if my particular PM is defective. I have contacted the company but they don't write back. Each day I use the Solar attachment to charge the PowerMonkey by moving the devices from window sill to window sill inside my house. I live in Alaska where we have LOTS of sunlight now. Nevertheless, the PowerMonkey does not fully charge, and when it is plugged into my iPhone at the end of the day, it raises the charge only a little. Such performance would definitely not be enough to keep my iPhone charged on the trail.

Comments about Powertraveller Powermonkey Explorer Solar Battery Charger:
I do a lot of climbing and long distance hiking out in the back-country. One of the things that always left a bad taste in my mouth was the lonely night in the tent at the end of a long day. Now, when my battery runs out on my iPhone, I have a reliable back up to charge up with. My recent trip to Texoma was my first outing with this piece of equipment. The main charger was fully charged from a wall outlet before leaving the house. What I found interesting was the functionality of the device, the first night, I left my phone charging through the night and the charger shut off automatically to prevent over-charging and save power. After placing a full charge on my phone, it still had about 20% remaining to continue charging other equipment. The next morning I was a bit concerned about how the solar panel would work as it was heavy overcast predicted all day. Regardless, once I plugged the solar panel into the charger, it immediately kicked on providing energy for the charger to power up. By the end of the day, it had a full charge and was ready to start recharging my gear. Great piece of equipment. The only down side I would voice is that the kit fails to include a protective case to house all the items for storage. This was corrected when I purchased a pelican case. All in all, a great plug in and forget system.

Comments about Powertraveller Powermonkey Explorer Solar Battery Charger:
I am self employed and was leaving for vacation for a week. I wanted a device that could keep my phone charged so I can still keep intouch w/ my employees, customers and family. I use my phone hard so needed something reliable. I purchased the Explorer, came pre charged right out of the box ! Battery storage device worked perfect. I also charged devices of friends that vacationed with us. Spent plenty of time on the beach, boat, so the solar panel was key ! Perfect for the ipod. We hit the sites, attached the solar panel to my pack or my girl friends purse strap, it worked great ! The price was very reasonable for the product. It didnt come w/ a case so I just store everything in a small camera bag. Both the panel and battery pack are pretty rugged which was a plus. I bought a few to give as gifts, people loved them. Hiking, vacation, around the house, the kit allows you to charge any small device. Definitly recommend this to friends and family !
