Comments about Vibram FiveFingers KSO Multisport Shoes - Men's - 2011 Overstock:
this is the first type of toe shoe I have ever tried, I love them! They are amazing for running on grass, not so much pavement. the only problem that I have is that they do get pretty smelly if you don't wash them or wear them everyday. That and that they don't provide much cushion, but that doesn't matter to me. Still, they are perfect shoes for my lifestyle, I just try to avoid wearing them for long periods of time. and if they get smelly, you can just toss them in the wash and they look brand new.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers KSO Multisport Shoes - Men's - 2011 Overstock:
I bought these as a second pair to my Five Finger TrekSport shoes. I was wearing out the little grips on them on pavement. Since the TrekSport was more designed for hiking, I purchased the KSO's for walking, planning to keep the other pair just for hiking. Overall I loved them, except I just noticed that I was starting to wear through the sole. Oddly enough, on my pinky toe! These are only 9 months old. I figured I'd wear through the heel or big toe as I'm very heel heavy and use my big toes noticeably to grip. I'm not sure I'll buy another pair of these as I can't afford to replace them every 9 months. If you don't do a lot of walking on hard pavement, you may find these longer lasting.

I wear these shoes all summer when the weather is warm. I also run extensively in them.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers KSO Multisport Shoes - Men's - 2011 Overstock:
The next best thing to going barefoot for water sports (I use them for windsurfing) - similar to the original Aquasocks from the 80s. Excellent traction on wet rocks, slimy boat ramps, etc. The best feature is the strap that holds them on, most "water shoes" now don't have this but it will keep them from being sucked off your feet. They are also much lighter and less clunky than other water shoes, a bonus if you have to wear shoes but would rather not.
I haven't used them for anything else since they are too expensive to wear out just walking around.
Check size with the Vibram sizing gizmo in a store if you get a chance.
CONS: if you wear them in river water they will stink the next day, so bad you won't want them in the house. This has not been such an issue in salt water. Rinsing in very hot water helps a lot, but if you habitually dry them in the sun the UV will damage them pretty quick.
Mine lasted about 2 years, in for another pair.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers KSO Multisport Shoes - Men's - 2011 Overstock:
Been into minimalist running for about five years now. I'm on my sixth or seventh pair of KSOs. I've also owned a number of other VFF models in recent years, including TrekSport and Bikila. For me, nothing beats the combination of light weight, minimal/flexible sole, and snug grip of the KSO. Some other notes:
* Great for road running, although they do tend to wear out quickly due to the thin sole material. Other models (like the Bikila) have a reinforced sole, so they should last longer, but you'll be giving up flexibility/lightness in return.
* Great for trail running as well, though not so much in wet / muddy conditions, especially for those who run sock-less (like me).
* Recommend wearing socks (check out Injinji) or using band-aids on your first few runs; I tend to get bad blisters on my the back of my achilles and a specific point under my arch (probably hitting a seam).
* It's my first grey/green pair, and actually surprisingly good looking!

they do protect your feet. the dc metro escalators is always eating flip flops and peoples toes. i stepped on a piece of glass, and it would have gone through flip flops, but the vibram sole material was up to the challenge. from a man who has plucked glass out of his feet too many times, let alone stitches.

I use these for walking around. So I have them on 3-4 hours a day on average.
Just waht I was looking for. We'll see how long they last.
Careful of the sizing chart though. The Vibram chart would have put me in a 43 and I'm wearing a 47 comfortably.

I was skeptical prior to ordering due to the "thin" sole, but much to my surprise, these Five Fingers are some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn!

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers KSO Multisport Shoes - Men's - 2011 Overstock:
I have worn these on a few 3-5 mile hikes now and I will say that they are extremely comfortable. They take getting used to though and as others suggest, I would break your feet in to wearing them. They hold up well on rough trail conditions and I would recommend not wearing them with socks.
One recommendation is start off on smooth trails before moving on to rock/scree as you need to get used to walking in them and walking on rocks/scree can be tough on the feet if you are not used to walking in them. Also, you can stub your toes on these, so watch your step.
With the warnings aside, on the trail I have noticed I move much faster with these on over my traditional day hiking shoes and that I can grip rocks and slippery surfaces much better than I could with traditional shoes. I haven't tried running with these yet and after a few more hikes I will certainly do so. I may even get a second pair for running.
I would certainly buy these again!

This was my second pair of Five Fingers after picking up some komodosports to try at a garage sale. After wearing those for a few months I wanted some more. The upper on the KSO is very minimal which is great in the heat or water. I have worn these around town, in the mountains, white water rafting, they are a great all around shoe. I would give them a 5 if they really did keep stuff out completely.
