    Gift for daughter and she loves it. We reviewed a couple of different ones before she picked this one. We read the reviews together and she liked this one the best. She is 7yoa and it holds everything and the clip in the middle that stops it from falling off her shoulders is great. She puts books, lunch, homework, jewelry and everything else she can put in there and it has been holding up great.

      We bought this for our daughter after watching her struggle (without any complaints from her) with a regular backpack. Well this pack has the clasp across the chest and the extra padding on the shoulders. Also the weight for the items inside the pack distributes better. My child is average sized, and using this daily to bring school items, including a lunch bag, to and from school and home. It allows her to run without it hitting her body and it doesn't slide off her shoulders. Plus the comparments inside of the front pocket are great. I highly recommend. I wish I had thought to buy a school bag from REI sooner.

        Just bought two of these bags for my son and daughter. They really like the comfort straps and all of the pockets. It looks very durable, but only time will tell. It has to be better than the one I bought from [@] that did not even last a school year. I'm not worried with REI's guarantee though. Only complaint from my daughter is that she was looking for a pink bag and this only comes in two colors. She got over that quickly.
