First of all, I love smartwool. The material and construction is great and they do a great job keeping me warm in cooler environs. My only beef is that they aren't boot top length as described, instead they come to about 3" below my knees or 4" above my boots, 1-2" above my socks. This space increases with movement and results in a drafty feeling on my calves. I find this isn't a problem if I am using them with gaiters. I've used them on 6 day outings in temperatures ranging from 25-50 degrees and other than the draft, they are amazing!

I purchased these because I was using regular length long underwear and was having issues with long underwear and socks binding in my ski boots. These allowed me to only have socks in my boots and provided a lot more comfort in the shin area. sometimes the boot top length long underwear can be tight around the calves but that is not the case with these Smartwool underwear. They are extremely comfortable. I cannot comment on the actual warmth because the day I wore them it was 40 degrees so cold was not an issue.
