Comments about Mountain Hardwear Kryos Insulated Jacket - Men's - 2011 Closeout:
Reall, really nice jacket. Definitely not meant to be worn alone in winter though....you're gonna need a sweater or something under it. luckily it's pretty roomy, and the insulation is just enough to make it perfect with that extra layer.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Kryos Insulated Jacket - Men's - 2011 Closeout:
I bought the Kryos to replace a worn-out "poofy" jacket, and I'm convinced I made a good choice.
Within minutes of putting this jacket on, I'm nice and toasty -- sometimes a little too toasty! The fabrics have a nice feel: especially the cuffs, which also have the thumb holes.
Tons of pockets, lots of zippers for venting, and a removable "snow skirt." If we ever get any more snow, I'll have a real opportunity to put this jacket through its paces.
I marked it as feeling true-to-size, but it actually feels somewhat large. I got a medium, and I'm 5'10" 155 lbs. It feels slightly too big, but not so big that I think a small would have been better.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Kryos Insulated Jacket - Men's - 2011 Closeout:
My Mountain Hardware go to jacket gave up the ghost recently, after 10+ years of hiking and camping use. I even tried retreating to extend its life but during a recent hike in Cameroon Africa was caught in a torrential downpour and came away sopping wet so knew it was to look for a new jacket. After reading too many reviews of various jackets, I decided on Mountain Hardware's Kryos.
The Kryos came from REI and I can't believe the thought that went into this jacket. As other reviewers commented, it is big (I am 5-1, 185 lbs and ordered a large which fits like an x-large) but that is a plus in my mind as it makes for a more comfortable fit and leaves room for layering when the weather gets cold. It does not seem that this jacket would be effective in extreme cold but I have not tested it in weather below 30 (nor do I intend to) so this too is a positive.
The extreme functionality and obvious craftmanship is perhaps the best part of this jacket. Every pocket serves a function and I especially love the thumb holes in the sleeve cuffs that keep the sleeves down. Perhaps the only thing I would change is the main zipper seems to get stuck but I attribute that to the fact this is a fairly new zipper and expect this issue to go away with time.
With such a well designed, great fitting and bullet-proof jacket, why did Mountain Hardware discontinue it? I am tempted to purchase a second and store it for future use! Highly recommend the Mountain Hardware Kryos.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Kryos Insulated Jacket - Men's - 2011 Closeout:
I bought this jacket a few weeks ago and was supprised to find that it was still available on REI-Outlet today. It's a sound piece of clothing that I bought for hiking/climbing trips, and although I haven't had the opportunity to test it out in either of those situations yet, I have no doubt that it will perform well.
The build quality of this thing is spectacular. It has plenty of well-placed waterproofed pockets to store and protect your gear, as well as an invaluble ventalation system under the arms and a powder skirt to keep out snow and wind. Oh, and when they say it's waterproof, they mean it. I've held this thing under a faucet and it litteraly repells the water.
Take note that the jacket runs VERY big. I'm 6'0" 155lbs and I would normally wear a large-sized down jacket to allow for extra layers underneath, but I read elsewhere of the sizing issue and went down to a medium. I still have plenty of room for extra layers and my long arms are quite comfortable in the sleeves.
If you're looking for a great jacket at a great price, get this one. It's sweet.
