Comments about Mountain Hardwear G50 Jacket - Men's - 2011 Closeout:
I like this jacket, mostly. But the cut is rather large and boxy, both in the shoulders and in the body. It's not an athletic cut, if that's what you're looking for. But its a nice red color, and is pretty durable and warm.

This is a great jacket for the money. Light weight, warm, highly water resistant, soft lining, quiet, nice feel.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear G50 Jacket - Men's - 2011 Closeout:
I'm 5'9" 150lbs and the jacket fits perfectly. The jacket if fairly light weight and is pretty warm. While it could be defective, my jacket does not have an inside security pocket.
I would not wear this jacket running unless it was 20 degrees out or less.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear G50 Jacket - Men's - 2011 Closeout:
I like this jacket a lot. I bought the 2010 version in orange mainly for use on my SAR team, trainings or callouts for colder weather. I liked the jacket so much that I started wearing it casually and for recreational hikes in colder weather as well. I then decided I wanted to dedicate the orange one as SAR gear and get another one. So I just bought another one in black. For highly aerobic activities, like running in cold weather, I probably would not recommend. For hiking, etc, in colder weather I think it works. Pit zips would be a welcomed addition. I really like that the cuffs do not have velcro closure and instead have an inner neoprene like cuff that assures a nice comfortable fit. I like the high collar. When on a moderate hike with a heavier pack I will just wear a base layer under this jacket and zip or unzip the front zipper as needed. If not moving too much, a second layer is usually added under this jacket. Overall, I am pretty happy with the jacket. I have also worn it through some fairly rough brush and thick cover without any issues or tears and then one day caught it on the fence in my yard and got a very small tear. I was not happy, but 100% my fault and I don't feel anything to do with product durability.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear G50 Jacket - Men's - 2011 Closeout:
This jacket fits like standard Mountain Hardwear outerwear sizing, I like a loose fit so I went with XL. I'm 5'11", 180 lbs with lanky arms, so i was happy with XL. Most would say that is a bit long.
I took it for a run yesterday in a cool 40 degree weather with just a t-shirt underneath, I was a little disappointed my arms built up a lot of sweat 20 minutes into a 30 minute run at higher altitude (4.5k elevation & low humidity),pockets are the only venting. Too bad they didn't put pit vents, but I guess I'm missing the purpose of the jacket. Thus, I will probably only use it layered under a outerjacket in sub 30F weather or it is a nice looking jacket so I'll prob use it for going around town in moderate temps.
Maybe someboday has a better use and experience ?
Maybe it's meant for Sub 40F temps ? But I can't see how it disspated heat other than the pockets with mesh vents, which is a poor vent design IMHO.
Bottom Line: a little disappointed in it's performance for high aerobic activities in cool weather. Also the collar was a too "choking" and tight when running with it fully zipped, when zipped down the collar "flopped" which was more annoying.
I guess that's why it's on Sale ?!
A little disappointed in this Mount Hardwear product for performance, but it still "looks good" ; )
First MH product I haven't rated 5 stars.
