Comments about Mountain Hardwear Lightpath 3 Tent - 2010 Closeout:
I purchased this tent to shave 1.5 pounds out of my pack when backpacking with my sister. It's a pretty good tent for the price. It's not freestanding, but I've never had any issues with setup. My only "con" is that it goes easier and quicker if you have two people on the setup (one on each pole). With that, only once did I hit a situation where I couldn't drive a stake for one corner, so we improvised and I used a large rock and tied it down (see uploaded pic). I love the fact that even though there is only one tent door, the rain fly has openings on both sides. This allows us to stack our backpacks along the middle section out of the way and we each have our own exit. This isn't the lightest tent out there, but unless you're willing to pay double for about a pound lighter tent, then the LightPath is a pretty good buy. We've used it in temps down to the mid-20's, and stayed relatively warm and condensation free in this tent. I can't say I've used it in harsh weather (rain/snow), so I can only speculate that the only issue might be potential sagging between the poles under weight of snow since there is no support there. Heavy rain? Well, I can't really say. For the interior, it is very roomy for the two of us and a dog. Plenty of headroom and room to stretch our legs. We're both about 5'4" so we do very well with the space inside. We even have room in the front corners and at our feet for gear we don't want to leave under the fly such as extra clothes & water bottles. Bottom line: If you're on a budget and need a lightweight tent, this is a great buy!!

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Lightpath 3 Tent - 2010 Closeout:
Stood up to strong wind and rain storms in Utah with rain-cover attached and the whole time felt sturdy through the wind knocking it back and forth for hours. One morning there was lots of water trapped between the tent and tarp underneath (not the tent's fault) but was surprised and happy to see none of it soaked through the floor fabric.
Easy to set up, takes maybe 2-3 minutes; tear down 5-7 minutes. Very roomy for two 6' people plus large backpacks. 3 persons should not be a problem, but a head-to-foot orientation is not possible.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Lightpath 3 Tent - 2010 Closeout:
I have had this tent for 3 years and have yet to come up with a legitimate complaint. It's not free standing, but I still haven't run into a situation where I couldn't stake it in. I have mostly used this tent for car camping, but now that I am venturing into backpacking I am glad I bought it as it is extremely lightweight.
So far, this tent has held up in some pretty intense thunderstorms without getting so much as a drop of water inside. The vestibule is nice and roomy for your gear, and can unzip to vent out your tent. The back of the rainfly also rolls up so you can get some fresh air through the screen on a warmer night. I just purchased the footprint to protect the bottom, but you can also use it for backpacking and just pitch the rainfly which I am a big fan of.
In terms of size, 3 people would probably be cramped but it fits 2 very nicely. My girlfriend is not much of a camper but really likes my tent because it fits a full size inflatable mattress in it for her. The dog fits in there with us as well.

This fit two campers easily, the vestibule is adequate, it is light.
The single entry is large, the tapered length is acceptable. I have not tried it with three campers.
