I have a road bike worth about $2k. I use it for everything, including running errands and shopping. I live in a small apartment, and I don't have room to store a 2nd commuter bike.

I made the mistake of using an inexpensive lock, and a thief cut it and stole my bike. I wanted to be sure that would never happen again, so I decided to spend the money on a good lock. Which is this one.

I have locked up my bike in many different places, for extended periods of time, and while i'm sure the sight of a high end road bike has caught the eye of many would be thieves, the bike remains in my possession thanks to the security of this lock.

Yes, it is very heavy, but thats the cost of having a secure lock.

The nice thick rubber makes it durable in harsh weather. Locking and unlocking the shackle is quick and easy. It comes with 3 keys which are high quality. Most importantly, the lock looks very formidable, and will send a clear message to thieves that they have their work cut out for them if they decide to take a crack at this lock.

No lock is unbreakable, including this one, but it will certainly do its job well. A thief would much rather decide to pick an easier target, than to go through the risk and work of getting through this lock. It would take power tools. A lot of noise, and some unwanted attention if they were to even try.

This is a lock that I trust my bike with, and so far in the year i've been using it, it has not let me down.

This lock is an impressive hunk of metal - totally beefy. This is the lock for you if you live in an area where bike theft is a real concern. Like thiefs running around with car jacks popping locks. For most cyclists this lock is serious overkill. But its great piece of mind. It is a bit short, for a reason. That reduces the space to get in a crowbar, jack, or other piece of leverage. Yes, it makes it hard, often impossible, to lock your tire along with the frame. GET LOCKING SKEWERS. Or a cable to thread through the tires. This massive beast can be unruly to carry. I don't like it in my pack. My method of choice is in my belt. Slip it in and go. Rides nice back on my hip. Much better then against my back. This lock will protect your bike.

i bought this product online and i was doing extensive research before buying. When i got it in the mail i was impressed by the weight of this little lock and i did like the anti theft warranty. the only thing is that its small its very small the width of the u lock is 8cm and the space is 15cm which is very small. its a good size if you only want to keep the frame secured but what about the wheels? i bought another lock when i need to be out for more then a couple hours, you can use a cable for the wheels but i still think that the ny standard by kryptonite is big enough for the wheels and the frame and its almost the same thickness so in short this lock is great but the hard to find space to lock it into place.

This is a fantastic lock. After doing extensive research on locks and which one would best suit my needs, I decided to go with the New York mini Fahgettaboudit. It's a burly piece of equipment, that's for sure, but I just couldn't see myself feeling comfortable locking my beloved single speed or road bike with anything but the best. If it were to get stolen, and I hadn't bought the most secure lock I could, I would be kicking myself.That being said, this thing is heavy. 5 lbs, and it's a bit difficult to transport. I usually ride to school or on an errand, and it requires taking a backpack for the lock. I recently purchase a Kryptonite mini evolution 5 for just quick lock ups and errands, but the mini-fahg is the go to when I want no one to touch my bike. The cylinder operates very smoothly, there are rarely any hangups, and the mechanism is solid. It just works. And it better for [$]. The outside of the lock is fairly weather proof, I've had no problems with it, and I'm able to lock the back rim and seat tube of my bike to most bike racks. There's no way anyone, especially with other options with garbage locks, will go for this lock. It's massive. But I like the feeling of security.Overall, extremely satisfied with this lock, would buy again in a heartbeat.
