I have owned three Kryptonite bike locks for several years, and over time two of them have been lost. I decided to replace them with the same brand, because the old ones had given very good service. The new ones are not as well made, the number wheels are hard to turn, and do not have the same clean crisp feel as the old ones. I noted that the new ones are made in China. No indication where the old ones were made.

This lock is sufficient to secure wheels, when used with a more heavy duty lock to secure the frame. But if you use this lock alone on any bike that has any significant value, a thief will easily get past it with some bolt cutters. I know from first hand experience, and I won't be letting that happen again!

I ride to class, grocery store, etc 4-5 days a week. I had been using the lock for 4 months and I had to steal my own bike back because it wouldn't come undone.
The part were hard to fit together and pull apart from day one.

I purchased this lock for use on my mountain bike. I needed it to mount under my seat on the seat post. I was disappointed to see that the mount was a nylon strap. I torqued it down as titght as it could go and off I went out on the trail. After half a mile of bouncing over roots, the lock was flopping hitting me in the legs. Looks like a good lock but the mount is flimsy. I am talking this one back

Should have read the other reviews. Same issue. Set my combination, tested it a couple times and everything seemed ok. Then when I went to actually use it, I could not insert the lock. I set it to my original combination but could not put it in reset mode. The worst part, you can just turn the comniation until you see a clear path in the barrel. This was NOT my combination and I could still not reset it using this number so I assume all locks may have this hidden back door of a combination that works. In any case, stay away!

Purchased because I needed a somewhat secure lock for commuter use and I liked the idea of a lock that I didn't have to carry a key for.

Worked fine for a while then the lock refused to open. Combination that I set that had worked for weeks (I set it to match my alarm code for work, so it was easier to remember)

When I returned to my bike with a dull hacksaw, it took me less than 3 minutes to saw through the cable.

Purchased a U lock and a cable to replace this.

Combo set, go! Nope.

Tight/tense coiling of cable made it difficult to physically use the lock. And then...

Each time I locked/unlocked, the insertion rod got harder and harder to insert and then remove. By the fourth use, the lock refused to come undone at all. Had to buy a hacksaw to get my bike.
