I bought this jacket because I needed a lightweight, warm winter jacket to wear to work with slacks and with jeans.

I'm 6'2", 185lbs and the medium fits nice and snug...which is what I like. If I were any taller or wider, I'd have to size up to a large.

What sold me was that it looks a lot slimmer than almost all of the other puffy down jackets. Looks just nice enough to wear to work while still being casual enough to wear around town in the evenings and weekend.

My only wish would be to add an internal zippered chest pocket to put my cellphone in. The external chest pocket with the button isn't big enough to fit an iphone in, but it does make the jacket look more stylish than most puffy jackets.

All things considered, it is still a great jacket.

Bought this for my husband for Christmas. It was a huge hit. He was looking for a warm coat without the bulk. Something that can be worn in and out of the car during errands, walking in NYC and commuting to work. This jacket is perfect. Light weight and comfortable with plenty of warmth. He loves the convenience of the pockets as well.

I was really surprised how much I like this jacket. It is warm and I don't feel the wind penetrate the lining like I have with other coats. I'm very impressed. I will buy more REI brands because of my experience with this jacket.

Love the jacket but soaked up what little rain we got on a beach walk at night thought it was water repellent what a pain got so heavy. Really a nice jacket! Very warm, light, and looks great. I have used it often since I purchased it. It has good-decent wind resistance, is lightly rain resistant, and makes a great liner for the Hurricane Ridge Jacket. I bought this during a crazy Black Friday sale and can't believe the quality I got for the price!

The only caveat is that the shell is made from a very fine polyester material that feels like it could rip right open if it were to meet any kind of a thorn or sharp branch. I wouldn't recommend using this without a snag-proof, durable jacket shell on the outside (the Hurrican Ridge Jacket is a perfect example) if you are hiking or will be around a lot of vegetation. Also, it is not water proof.

Some other great aspects . . . it is machine washable and doesn't hold on to odors. I had mine next to a fire all night a couple of nights ago and the smoke smell is almost gone. Very packable. It packs into a tiny space and puffs right back up when you pull it out. Really recommend the Hurricane Ridge Jacket to make this a complete winter ensemble. It may be the only winter jacket I need between the two of them, and the outer shell can function as a light fall jacket and a rain coat.
