Comments about Gerber Bear Grylls Ultimate Knife:
I'm not the kind of person that buys an item because someone endorses it or designed it. In fact until I purchased this knife I didn't even know who Bear was until I looked him up. (Spend too much time outdoors I guess lol)
I liked the overall features of the knife and the grip and heft of it. This knife has a really solid blade and has the kind of grip that feels great in the hand. the pummel is very useful for pounding in tent stakes and the fire steel works very well and it's a great addition to the knife.
I did wait to buy this until the fine edge version came out also because I really dislike serrated blades and find them almost useless in the wild. Especially if you have to sharpen them.
If I have one suggestion it would have to be loose the orange color and the big BG logo on the knife. I've always liked plain and simple but I can overlook that stuff due to the knives strengths.

Comments about Gerber Bear Grylls Ultimate Knife:
This knife is a trap
It is marketed as this great survival knife and it has many attributes one woild desire in a survival/ bushcraft knife, but all of those attributes are cosmetic in comparison to the main needs from a survival knife.
Will it cut what you want? Will it break? Can you keep/ get it sharp?
In short the bear grills wonder bar accomplishes none of those. Gerber has horrible standards of quality for their knives and i usualy reccokend that people only buy their fixed blade knives. One has to take the good with the bad because even their fixed blade knives with a coating to keep the blade protected will rust.
The Gerber grils wonder bar is even worse. This knife is from the ground up built poorly and there have been tons of accou ts of handle breaks.
If you use this knife for survival/ bushcraft it will break.
Also the grind used on the knife is bad for fine cutting, horrible for splitting and mediocre for choping ( not to mention that the handle can take none of it.
If you want to cut string and boxes or stab people this knife would do fine but for survival its laim. Too heavy for what it does, weak handle, bad grind, useless serasions, poor steel, less than amazing sheath, i could go on in more detail but i dont want to exertany more energy on this pice of scrap metal.

This is a great knife. I've been waiting for a fine edge version of this knife and was really happy when they came out with it. one thing i really like abot this knife is the size it isnt too small for chopping wood and isnt too big to make it unwieldy for bushcraft. plus getting a firesteel and sharpener built in is really nice. in all this is agreat knife
