After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

I had the opportunity to use a bike like this at a hotel in Key West, Fl in Feb. 2012. On the flat terrain of the island I was impressed with the ease of riding compared to a 10 or 16 speed bike. I live in northern Illinois where it is pretty flat. When I found this Marin Drake's Beach Cruiser on REI I jumped at the opportunity to buy it. It is a pleasure to ride on the Lake County Forest Preserve trails plus it replaces my pickup for 3-5 mile trips. The 3 speed gear is more than sufficient for the small inclines. The simple turning of the handle grip to change gears is much better than mountain bikes or racers. I look forward to taking it on my boat to Chicago and cruise the Lake Shore to Navy Pier. It is a wonderful investment, plus the maintenance service from REI on their bikes is better then I had expected, bar none.
