The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about GEIGERRIG Hydration Engine Reservoir - 101 fl. oz.:
What a great idea; a pressurized hydration bladder. I jumped at this one. However, having used it for the past two months, I have grown less impressed by it. First I will say that the workmanship is great; solidly made with no poor or cheap connections anywhere; down to the "snap-in" hose connections. The wide mouth of the bladder itself is terrific for filling and cleaning. The welds on the seams that separate the air chamber from the water chamber is flawless. The slide closure holds well under the heaviest pressure. The bite valve did not drip and closed securely in the "off" position. The unit itself fit comfortably in every pack I own. Everything about this bladder screamed quality. I really wanted to love this thing...but I didn't. Not because it's a piece of junk; far from it. My only complaint was with what it is supposed to do. The idea is that you can pressurize it so you don't have to suck water out of the tube; you simply squeeze down on the mouthpiece and the water squirts into your mouth or the mouth of a companion. The bladder pressurizes fine but it didn't hold pressure very long; it seemed like I was pumping it all the time just to take a drink. Thinking it had a hole or leak in the air system somewhere, I checked it over several times; no such luck. I wound up just sucking water from the tube, as usual. It could just be that I drink alot of water on my hikes so it never really had the chance to maintain enough pressure to "squirt" the water all the time. A little background on my hikes; I live in Vegas and spend much of my time in the desert, especially in the summer. I hike with 4 to 8 gallons of water depending on the distance. For a small hike (under 6 miles) I generally carry about 5 gallons and I will be just about empty by the time I get back to my truck. Mind you it is no inconvenience to suck the water out, but I bought this rig based on the company's claims. The unit is great in all other respects but I found its advertised function fell short. I still use it because it is so easy to clean but I just don't use the inflator pump. I have recommended this rig to friends with the caveat that they shouldn't expect too much from it.

This is a simple design, easy to fill, easy to clean. But I couldn't get rid of the terrible taste of the plastic components. I added ice to the water, I tried baking powder, I tried the cleaning tablets dissolved in water, I tried lemons. I finally had to replace it with a competitor that didn't have the taste issue. I really wanted to like this product as it is a wonderfully simple design - they all should be so simple to fill with water and add ice, clean, and use. But the terrible taste rendered it unusable.

This is not only the best hydration pack I have ever used but my favorite piece of gear. Pressurizing the water makes perfect sense and it is a true asset when on the trail. I use this mainly for backpacking and just being able to bite the valve and get a cool water injection is such a great feeling; effortless. Also, being pressurized secured my whole pack. All of my gear is rock solid stable in my pack once I pump up my g'rig.
I was skeptical because it all seems gimmicky but this product made my backcountry experience just that much more enjoyable.
Service and delivery comments:
It was shipped to me from another REI store without a drinking tube. I sent a note to Geigerrig and the CEO called me at home as soon as the comment went through, overnighted me a drink tube, and was super helpful and friendly. A+ customer service!

Great idea I think. This allows you to pressurize the reservoir. I do not think it was that difficult to drink from one of my old quality reservoirs. It does allow for multiple people to use and also to put the water in another container. Can also use it as a quick trail shower.

Comments about GEIGERRIG Hydration Engine Reservoir - 101 fl. oz.:
I recently bought this GeigerRig bladder. After reading a few reviews, I decided on this one because I go hiking with my dog and my cousin.
After seeing the main feature of this bladder being a pressurization pump, I decided it was perfect for me. I would normally carry multiple bottles of water in my backpack for myself, my dog and my cousin, but now I can keep all 3 of us hydrated off of just one simple to use unit.
There are 2 hoses that connect to the unit: The bottom hose is the water line that you drink from. It has an adjustable flow bite valve that you can use to change the rate that the water flows out of the valve. The second hose is the pressurization hose. It goes into a secondary bladder behind the water bladder to keep a steady stream of water flowing. One end connects to the bladder and the other connects to the ball pump valve, which has a pressure release valve installed on it.
ADVICE: Get one! The only problem that I had with mine was that the O-Ring on the water lines quick-(dis)connect was bad. I had to have it exchanged and when I got the new one I realized they had updated the quick-(dis)connect fittings so that, instead of sitting at the awkward 90-degree horizontal angle that they were at, they now sit at a 90-degree vertical angle. That small change made a big difference in that it provided another 1-2 inches of hose at the front end and it fit inside my backpack much better.
Hopefully this helps in your decision.

Hands down, greatest hydration system I've ever owned!! I'm a hiker/trail runner and when you're mid hike up a 45 degree hill, the last thing you want to do is suck in water. It's great being able to squirt the water into your mouth, even if just to get your mouth wet.
First outing with my new bladder, I pressurized the 3L engine and went on a little hike(3miles), it was raining and windy, so I hit the peak I was aiming for and turned around ASAP to run back down the mountain, on my way back my pack opened up(Not a geigerrig pack. My mistake for not getting one) from all the shaking my running was creating. Got back to my car and obviously noticed the open pack, but didn't notice that I had dropped the bulb while running. Finally noticed when I got home. I went back the next day to look for it, but it was a sunny day and many people had already been up hiking and someone must've found it. Anyways, I drank maybe a quarter of my water during the 3mile hike, so I left the bladder pressurized hoping I could still use it the next day, to go look for the bulb, I woke up the next day and the bladder held a pressure for 24hrs!! Bottom line: Geigerrigs hydartion system is awesome!! I will recommend it to anyone willing to listen. Their customer service is great too!! Replaced the bulb ASAP!!
