Comments about REI Tara City Bag - Women's - 2012 Special Buy:
I went on a 6-week trip to New Zealand with this bag, and it was a perfect travel bag. It's not very big, but it's so well-organized it holds a lot and makes small items easy to find. The outside zipper pocket is perfect for a passport, which fits tightly, and my car keys. The top zippers are easy to open from either end. Under the flap I kept a pen, small writing pad, post-its, fingernail file, and my US cash and there was room for receipts, etc. One pocket held a small hand lotion, small sun screen, glasses, another pen, foldup hairbrush, toothbrush and floss. In the other I kept eye pencils and bandaids in the inside zipper, other makeup, lipbalm, toothpaste, daily vitamins in tiny baggies, anti-itch cream for sandfly bites (a necessity), a small coin purse that held folded bills, a compact and kleenex. There was still room for either my small camera or sunglasses, though neither in their own case (I have a small cloth bag for each of those to protect from scratches.
I loved the green color - seemed to go with everything and is exactly as shown. The handle is adjustable, and the only problem was that since I kept it short, it became a double handle that moved easily from long to short, so had to be adjusted if I picked it up wrong - MINOR problem. It was not too slippery on the shoulder. I feared it would get grubby since it looks like cloth, but it's actually PET, and it still looks perfectly new. I'm a person who wants everything in my purse, but I don't like to travel with a big bag. This one's perfect.
