Comments about Outdoor Research Arete Gloves:

Bought these gloves two months ago because they fit my hands great and had nice big gauntlets. I used them 4 times snowboarding at Stevens and once up at Whistler, and they kept my hands warm and I had good dexterity with them. Temperatures that I used them in were from 10 to 30 degrees F. I really liked these gloves, my favorite pair I have owned for sure, but they are wearing way too fast. The stitching on a couple fingers started to come apart and the rubberized coating on some parts of the palm and fingers has started chipping off and exposing the fabric.

I returned them to REI and ordered a pair of OR Northback gloves, so hopefully those will be more durable.

Comments about Outdoor Research Arete Gloves:

Brought these along for my primary gloves on a recent attempt on Blanca Peak in Colorado. Temperature ranged from 0-30 degrees F with winds ranging from 5-35 MPH. I bought these in an REI store and the packaging claims a comfort zone of 0-20 degrees F. In my opinion the glove reached its limit at 15 degrees F and was a total fail at anything below 10 degrees F, even with very light wind. With higher winds it was instant stone hands.

Again, I think the bottom limit to these gloves is about 15 degrees F. If you don't go below that these gloves could be a good buy.
