Comments about Teva Churn Water Shoes - Women's - 2011 Closeout:
My wife ordered these shoes to hike the Narrows in Zion (in July). She wore them with hiking socks and broke them in with a short hike in Bryce the day before our Narrows thru hike. She tried wearing them with no socks, but the drain holes in the insole insert chaffed the balls of her feet for some reason. Fine for short trips running errands around town without socks but would be dubious of wearing them with no socks for long periods. Kind of defeats the purpose of water shoes to have to wear socks with them, but she thinks a new insole insert would solve this. For our Narrows hike, she wore these with 2mm neoprene socks & was perfect. They were solid when on wet rocks, BUT they were slippery if there was any sand/silt on the bottoms of the shoe and walking on wet rock, which could happen in any shoe really.
In terms of time to dry, they were still damp after a night camped uphill from the river. Insoles were dry (they were taken out). but mesh part still felt damp in the morning. These shoes would probably take about a day to fully dry. She thinks they would be great for summer activities & would be perfect barefoot with a new insole. Arch support was OK, could probably use a new insole just for that purpose. These would probably accommodate orthotics well too.
