Comments about CamelBak Rim Runner Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
This pack is great for heading to the flea market or even a quick over night.
All my friends comment on how much they like it and how much they wish they had this one instead of the one they have.
It can hold all you could need and will cinch down really tight for when you are carrying smaller loads.
REI does say that it has a fleece lined pocket for sunglasses with a cord output but this is incorrect.
The current Rim Runner does not, I have the older one and it does that pocket and I really like it and use it all the time. I must admit I usually put my SPOT in there and not glasses or music but it's really too bad they deleted it from this model.
My front welded zipper has blown out so I will probably get it replaced with one of the new ones and I am ok with that, eager to see how it compares.

Comments about CamelBak Rim Runner Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I've used it on a couple hikes and had no issues. Easy to fill and the pack has a surprising amount of room. The only issue I have is drying out the bag after use; my hands are too large to get all the way to the bottom to dry it.

Comments about CamelBak Rim Runner Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I'll be honest...When I bought this bag last year I'd never been hiking in my life (camping in Iowa doesn't count) and when I was looking for a day pack for my first 14er, I came into REI. Not realizing that I should buy a bag by comfort, I got this bag on looks and lucky for me I have no complaints.
I took this bag on my first hike in June 2012 on one of Colorado's 14ers. With all the water it was kind of heavy but I got used to that. It being heavy was me not knowing what I was getting into.
I've used this bag on many day hikes since then. It's held up to the weight I've packed into it. It feels durable and I cannot comment on water resistance yet.
What I pack on my day hikes:
-SAM splints on the botton
-Katadyn Vario
-First Aid Kit
-Sierra Designs Micro jacket
-Snacks and water flavor
-2 Nalgene Water Bottles on each side
-Camera
-Small here and there items
Total pack weight with gear 25lbs give or take.
It's roomy and durable. I'm glad I got a good pack without having the first clue what to buy!

Comments about CamelBak Rim Runner Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I bought this pack for 1 day-Half Dome climb and it was great! The Camelbak Holds 100 oz. of water, but I also had 2 sandwiches, 2 more waters, a large Gatorade, hiking poles, a small rag, and other small snacks. I wasn't heavy at all and all the straps it has takes the weight off your shoulders. However, I would add a small flap in in the front for other little things, like knives, flashlights, etc.

Comments about CamelBak Rim Runner Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
My wife and I have been hiking on a weekly basis and were sick of using a normal backpack to carry water plus other items. We purchased this pack before hiking Hanging Lake this past weekend. This hike is only about 2.5 miles roundtrip however with over 2,000 of elevation gain and my wife being pregnant this was not going to be a super quick hike.
We were able to carry all that we needed (snacks, water, camera, etc) and then we were easily able to add our jackets as the weather warmed up on the way up. With the 100 ounces of water we were able to both drink off of the bladder and still had plenty left when we reached the bottom. I would definitely suggest this pack for anyone looking at it.

My wife & I knew we would be hiking in Yellowstone and decided to buy a CamelBak instead of carrying water bottles. Lots of room inside for goodies and plenty of room for water. This bag was a VERY GOOD investment.

Comments about CamelBak Rim Runner Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I use the pack on day hikes and for walking to work sometimes. It is a great pack and serves my needs well on both accounts, but it could be just a fraction bigger. It easily takes my rolled up yoga mat in the side pockets and straps, but with a towel inside it does not leave a huge amount of room for anything else.

Comments about CamelBak Rim Runner Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
One thing that drives me crazy is when product manufacturers make design changes that seem to be nothing more than techie driven. I've been using Camelbaks for many years at this point. The "molded, fabric encased plastic "spacer?" in the bladder compartment is pure BS. When I asked an REI sales person what it was for their comment was "don't know, must not be too important because they've told us nothing about it". It is simply added weight and bulk that hinders bladder use. The lack of a bladder hanging loop is a change that I find irksome as I always used mine to keep my bladder in the right place. Shorter hydration hoses prove less than helpful in some usage situations. Camelbak... "less is more!!"

Comments about CamelBak Rim Runner Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I bought this pack for a hiking trip and within a week it developed a hole in the bottom. I was hiking in some rough terrain, but I'd expect a pack designed for outdoor use to last more than a week. CamelBak won't stand by their products either. I contacted CamelBak directly and they basically said tough luck, maybe I should find a tailor to sew a patch over the hole. I'm not joking about the tailor suggestion either. On a positive note, this pack is lightweight and has a decent amount of space for cargo. However, if you're going to be in possible contact with trees/branches/rocks with this pack on your back, I don't think it will hold up well over time.

Comments about CamelBak Rim Runner Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I took this pack to Zion the day after I bought it for a hike up to Observation Point (8 mile trip). There is plenty of room for everything you need to bring on a day hike. I had a light jacket, dslr camera, sun screen, snacks and other odds and ends.... plus about 80 oz. of water.
The pack can expand for larger loads and also collapses well for lighter packing. The weight distributes well. It isn't too wide but more lengthy... which is nice because it keep the weight close to your spine and easy to carry.
The 100 oz. of water it can carry is useful. Haven't flown with it yet but You can remove the Camelbak reservoir and use it as a carry on on short trips.
After that first use I already felt like I got my money's worth, a good feeling!
