Comments about CamelBak Rim Runner Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I chose this particular model after looking at several in the store for it's overall fit (I'm 6'2", 250 lbs), and it's cargo capacity. I wanted a pack that was compact, but still large enough for skiing that allowed me to carry some extra layers, gloves, goggles, food, etc and still versatile enough for other hiking/photography ventures.
This pack has it in spades. I will say that I was a bit concerned about these purported leaking 1/4-turn bladders that some reviewers claim, but I had no such issues with mine. I took a couple good spills on my pack skiing, and can say that nothing burst or leaked at all. Having said that, it's still important to make sure the largish cap is screwed down properly to ensure that it's closed.
The 3 individual pockets are sufficiently large to carry plenty of items for a ski/day trip without getting overly bulky, and the water resistance is excellent as well -- I had the pack in light rain for a couple of hours with no internal seepage or exterior soaking.
If there were just one bone to pick, I noticed that the cargo pocket zippers have a tendency to zip into the adjacent fabric surrounding the zipper and can bind if you don't "spread" the zip area apart a bit. This isn't a big deal when bare-handed, but with ski gloves on it's a bit of a nuisance having to be so careful not to zip it into a bind.
Other than that little thing -- a perfect hydration pack for a number of uses -- highly recommended!

Comments about CamelBak Rim Runner Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
One thing that drives me crazy is when product manufacturers make design changes that seem to be nothing more than techie driven. I've been using Camelbaks for many years at this point. The "molded, fabric encased plastic "spacer?" in the bladder compartment is pure BS. When I asked an REI sales person what it was for their comment was "don't know, must not be too important because they've told us nothing about it". It is simply added weight and bulk that hinders bladder use. The lack of a bladder hanging loop is a change that I find irksome as I always used mine to keep my bladder in the right place. Shorter hydration hoses prove less than helpful in some usage situations. Camelbak... "less is more!!"

Comments about CamelBak Rim Runner Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I bought this pack for a hiking trip and within a week it developed a hole in the bottom. I was hiking in some rough terrain, but I'd expect a pack designed for outdoor use to last more than a week. CamelBak won't stand by their products either. I contacted CamelBak directly and they basically said tough luck, maybe I should find a tailor to sew a patch over the hole. I'm not joking about the tailor suggestion either. On a positive note, this pack is lightweight and has a decent amount of space for cargo. However, if you're going to be in possible contact with trees/branches/rocks with this pack on your back, I don't think it will hold up well over time.

Comments about CamelBak Rim Runner Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I took this pack to Zion the day after I bought it for a hike up to Observation Point (8 mile trip). There is plenty of room for everything you need to bring on a day hike. I had a light jacket, dslr camera, sun screen, snacks and other odds and ends.... plus about 80 oz. of water.
The pack can expand for larger loads and also collapses well for lighter packing. The weight distributes well. It isn't too wide but more lengthy... which is nice because it keep the weight close to your spine and easy to carry.
The 100 oz. of water it can carry is useful. Haven't flown with it yet but You can remove the Camelbak reservoir and use it as a carry on on short trips.
After that first use I already felt like I got my money's worth, a good feeling!

Comments about CamelBak Rim Runner Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
The pack is fantastic. I just used it for two day trips in Idaho and Washington. It is replacing an old Camelbak Blowfish. This is awesome because it is lightweight. I found no other bag at under two pounds that included the reservoir. It is tough as well as light.
The pockets inside are great and it is very adjustable and comfortable. I have just one very small complaint. The outer mesh pockets are right where two compression straps are located so the compression straps get in the way when you are reaching for a camera or GPS.
The new water system is fantastic. There is a hard piece of material in the hydration sleeve that allows you to "hang" the water instead of it all dropping to the bottom
Those mesh pockets are think aren't necessarily meant for reaching back and grabbing something. Here is what I had in the pack.
Here is what I had in mine:
1) Thin outer layer
2) Midweight fleece
3) Arc-Teryx shell
4) 64 Oz of water
5) Emergency stuff (Steripen, reflective blanket, compass, gps)
6) Some powerbars
Worked fantastic.
