Comments about GCI Outdoor Xpress Lounger XL Chair:
My wife has the smaller version which is all steel. Hers is working just fine.
On mine, they have made the upper tubes out of aluminum, and they bent in a very strange way. Now, after just two uses, these upper tubes won't nest in the steel lower tubes, and the chair won't fold down.
Hard to tell if mine was defective, or if I am defective! I'm taking it back...

Comments about GCI Outdoor Xpress Lounger XL Chair:
I have now completely evolved into a car camper which allows me to carry a bit more weight in the gear I use. This chair has been the perfect combination of being compact enough to fit in my duffel, remarkably sturdy and comfortable set up, and not an overly heavy addition to the bag. I also own the stool GCI produces, however this chair has now replaced it on trips. If I take the time to make sure the sides are completely extended when opening, the chair almost sets itself up. It is much more comfortable around the fire than either the stool I was carrying, or a sling type chair. It is fun to watch friends want to show "new" people how small it collapses, and then encourage them to set it up again. Only draw back is that it requires me to get up! I highly recommend this chair for anyone not concerned about weight (about 8 lbs) and still has to fit all the gear in a car trunk.

Comments about GCI Outdoor Xpress Lounger XL Chair:
We have two of these chairs. They go camping, ball games, BBQs, winter tailgating, etc.
They are very comfortable and we love the pockets. The frame is very tough and can withstand some abuse.
The fine mesh seat dries very fast. They also collapse into a very small size compared to anything else in their class. Clever design.
The drawback to the design comes with a learning curve. It's fun to ask friends to either set up or take down the chair. You will laugh with all of the fumbling going on. However, after your first succesful rotation you can set the chair up in seconds.
The design also depends on all of the fastening systems and hardware holding up. I had a screw fall out of the backrest which doubles as a carrying strap when folded. The velcro strip on the frame has peeled off, which also keeps the chair from staying in the folded, carry position.
I have replaced the screw and will attempt to re-adhere the velcro, so that we can enjoy many more years with these comfortable, tough and compact camp chairs. Everyone who sits in them comments on the comfort.
