Comments about Timex Ironman GPS Run Trainer Sport Watch:
I have been using this watch for maybe six months now and still consider it a very good value compared to Garmin, especially when purchased on sale. A couple of observations:
Wearing it on your right hand (which left-handers do) can result in inadvertantly switching on the the GPS, which will leave you with no battery before long -- a nasty surprise if you're out in the wild. The 8 hours of battery life is good for the price range, but is a limitation. As one reviewer said, calling it an "ironman" watch is deceptive since the battery wouldn't last long enough for an ironman tri!
Stay on top of firmware updates: I began having trouble getting a GPS signal, and it stopped collecting map data. Both problems were solved with a firmware update. The process is not very intuitive but do-able.
Practice using the watch controls before you really need them. They take some getting used to, and I ended up wiping out data from one leg of a triathlon by pushing the wrong button.
Unless your eyes are pretty good, don't plan on displaying more than two lines of data per screen.

Comments about Timex Ironman GPS Run Trainer Sport Watch:
I wanted a GPS with altitude data that I could graph and map routes, this product worked for the first 3 weeks. Then, mysteriously no data from the watch would upload to the TrainingPeaks site - I've been working with them for a week now, performed 2 software updates and a firmware update and the watch still does not send anything up to the TrainingPeaks.com site. All stats are viewable on the watch, you just cannot use the website software.
Some other items I do not like about the watch, there is no local software to view and map data - it's all web based (which does not work). They (training peaks) hits you with monthly payment options for more advanced stats, the basics are supposed to be free but do not work. There are pros and cons of using a web portal to manage your workouts but there should be full blown local PC software to do this and not require you to use remote web software and this watch does not have that.
The battery life is only about 8 hours, charging is done via a USB device and not electrical outlet which could be a problem when doing any type of remote workouts or when traveling where you do not have a PC/laptop. I have not tried a plug in USB adapter yet, if I keep the watch I will try this.
The GPS sync is awlful - I have given up on it a few times, it would finally sync up a mile into my workout. I've also had weak signal notifications on numerous occasions.
I'm going to give TrainingPeaks another day or two to get their buggy software working or I will have to return this watch. I have to say I do not recommend this product.

Comments about Timex Ironman GPS Run Trainer Sport Watch:
After a short period of playing around with the watch, I found it fairly easy to use. Great for running. I have used it for 5 months now and had no problems other than connecting it to the Device Agent software. Sometimes the software just shuts down. Work around is to just download again.

Comments about Timex Ironman GPS Run Trainer Sport Watch:
I bought this watch after trying on the Garmin 110 and deciding it just looked/felt too flimsy. I had also read some online reviews of the Garmin that made me question its durability in rain. The Timex, on the other hand, feels and looks solid.
I've been using it for a few weeks now and really like it. It gets the job done very nicely. And although it felt a bit chunky on my wrist the first time out, now I hardly notice it's there. I run a few times a week, for 3-7 miles at a time, and the Timex comes with me every time. The GPS tracks seem very accurate, although sometimes it takes a full minute or so to lock onto a signal. Battery life is very good -- I've probably taken it on 15 runs, and I've yet to really recharge it. I only connect it to the computer for a few minutes at a time to upload my runs, and the battery is still on its last bar.
The display is very customizable. I have mine set to display total distance, lap time (how long this mile has taken me so far) and pace (to let me know if I'm starting to lag). There are a lot of other options, including a 4-line display mode where you can include a fourth kind of data. The only real problem that I have with this watch is that the setup is not very intuitive. I would recommend taking the watch on a few walks around the neighborhood to make sure you have the settings you want before you take it out on a run. The first time I went out I was only seeing total time elapsed, so I wasn't even sure that my distance was being tracked (it was). Overall, though, it's a very good product, and it's great once you get used to it.

Comments about Timex Ironman GPS Run Trainer Sport Watch:
I had a Garmin FR60 prior to this watch. I enjoyed the small size and functionality of the FR60 for my running needs (once I had the foot pod). I thought I could do without the GPS capabilities. After the garmin started having issues, I purchased the run trainer and haven't looked back. I'm currently training for a triathlon and the biggest factor was that it was waterproof... something the Garmin 210 is not (the other watch i was considering). This watch is very accurate and has enough features that aren't confusing. The trainingpeaks software is great for analyzing your workouts, the garmin wasn't as detailed imo. Size wise, it grew on me. I was a bit concerned at first but now realize it's a perfect size when actually running/exercising. I recommend this watch to anyone interested in competing.

Comments about Timex Ironman GPS Run Trainer Sport Watch:
Great item for training and everyday use. No need to keep that bulky and overly complicated GPS watch in your drawer until you train. You can wear this everyday and not be bothered. Setup takes time to charge, link up with your computer, and then make sure internal settings are to your liking. The software is lacking in its ability to be an analyzation tool, so you have to use it to download your workouts off the watch and then upload to the training peaks website. That gets kind of annoying, but eventually it'll get sorted out. This is a big step over the Global Trainer.

Comments about Timex Ironman GPS Run Trainer Sport Watch:
I use this watch for running and love it. It was easy to set up and easy to update. The USB charging clip is very secure and easy to connect. I use the four line display so that I can watch my overall time, distance, current pace, and average pace simultaneously. I also like that I can choose to display less lines or display different fields depending on what kind of workout I'm doing. It will save multiple custom configurations.
It connects to the GPS signal very quickly (usually less than 20 seconds in a place I've already been and about a minute in a new location.) The accuracy seems spot on in most locations. It seems most accurate in open spaces, slightly less accurate in wooded locations which is normal for GPS devices.
The only slight negative is the size of the watch. I'm a woman with an average size wrist. On most runs I don't notice the watch at all. On longer runs (over two hours) I sometimes begin to feel it pressing on my wrist bones. This can be overcome by pushing it up and down on my wrist so that it's not hitting the same spot all the time. Overall, though, I was much more worried about the size of the watch face before I used it for the first time. Within a minute I didn't notice it much at all.
This is a great watch for the price. It has all the features that I want as a runner.
Service and delivery comments:
I ordered this watch in the store since they didn't have the exact model I was looking for in the stock at the retail location. I had it delivered to my house. Delivery time was exactly as promised when I ordered the watch.

Comments about Timex Ironman GPS Run Trainer Sport Watch:
This is the cat's pajamas! I have used a lot of products and this one is easy to use right out of the box. Uploading it to Training Peaks is as simple as it gets, and as quick as opening a Word document....double click, and upload. It links up with satellites quickly and the on screen options are easy and logical to operate. Since it has 4 screen options, each with 4 different pieces of data, I use it for cycling too. Gives me speed, distance, and HR. It's small enough and fashionable enough to wear as a day to day watch...which I do.
