The ContourRoam is awesome if your choice is between this and the GoPro choose this. I have experience with both items and prefer this.

Comments about Contour ROAM Wearable Camcorder:
The User Manual offers no help with understanding how to use the software so you have to use a lot of trial and error to figure things out. And the software seems to treat the camera like any other flash drive for importing recordings. I'd also like to be able to turn GPS off to save battery time.

Comments about Contour ROAM Wearable Camcorder:
GoPro really dominates the small HD portable video market. But contour has carved a niche with its simple and quick rail system. the camera slides onto mounts as opposed to having to screw different attachments to the GoPro. Also the GoPro has a cumbersome waterproof case that you have to remove it from to get the card and other features. I love that this thing has an on/off switch and a laser guide button. you can ride around and hit the switch and reliably capture the moment. The GoPro that a friend had this weekend was not recording when we thought it was because it has a button that you can not tell what state it is without reading a display. in the gopro's favor it has a screen attachment and a few high end features if you are shooting a movie. read thoroughly...

Comments about Contour ROAM Wearable Camcorder:
PROS:
- easy-to-use slider button (since there's no screen, you can't review/edit so there's less buttons). No need to remove gloves to turn on/off.
- better image stabilization (I tested this in a car where road vibration was an issue. I was amazed at how stable the camera was in comparison)
- better color contrast/video quality (still can't read signing/words very clearly, but it's not bad)
- less fisheye distortion
- full, 180 degree, rotating lens for various mounting options
CONS:
- slider button is almost too easy to slide and cannot be locked (potential for accidentally turning it on/off while in pocket/bag). I wish they'd allow you to "lock" it in either position.
- NO zoom capabilities (wide angle may result in getting view of what it's mounted to)
- format button requires a paperclip (wish they'd switch the size to a ballpoint pen...at least people have those lying around more)
- beeps are really loud and get annoying (wish you could turn the beeps off or to vibrate)
- wish they supplied an additional door so that you could use the camera while plugged into a power source (so if using it in a car/not exposed to the elements, it's more versatile)
- wish there was a removable battery (so you can have a spare)
In comparison to my DriftHD I have (that cost more with noticeably worse video quality/performance), I would definitely recommend the Contour Roam over the DriftHD. Between the video quality and camera stabilization, the Contour Roam is impressive.
However, the biggest pro for the DriftHD is it's built-in screen--you can see what it's recording as it records and can also review/delete video without a computer. I'd be willing to sacrifice the size of the Contour if they could put in a screen since it's convenient and I feel better than having to use a laser to see where the camera is aimed at (which doesn't really matter since it's such a wide angle view).

Comments about Contour ROAM Wearable Camcorder:
This camera is easy to use and a great design. I'd prefer to be able to change the settings without having to use a PC, but I rarely want to change them, so it's no big deal.
Overall it's a great camera and is a lot sleeker than the competitor's cam. Super easy to use!
