Comments about REI Travel Day Bag - Special Buy:
I measured this item to be 7" x 6" x 2 3/4". The volume of 200 ci is incorrect.
Comments about REI Travel Day Bag - Special Buy:
Make sure you check the Specs for the measurements. It's much smaller than you think. Seems to be built well, but not sure who would use this. Just put whatever it is in you pocket instead of this bag. It's going back.

Comments about REI Travel Day Bag - Special Buy:
So I bought this for an upcoming trip to take with me on the plane and to have in the car for a roadtrip. For me it will largely serve as a man-purse of sorts.
One of the things that appealed to me was that it had a water bottle holder. Well I got the product (thank you Rei) super quick, however while checking it out I immediately notice that the water bottle holder is too small for even the the smallest Nalgene type water bottle. In fact, even the standard water bottles you get in the case don't fit well. That is they fit but the mesh doesn't go up high enough to securely keep the bottle from feeling like it will fall out.
Other than the water bottle issue, this product seems like it will be great. It's lightweight but has tons of pockets. I haven't counted them all but I feel like I can put the following in here w/out issue:
*wallet
*glasses
*sunglass
*papers
*maps
*camera
*snacks
*gum
*headlamp (if need be)
*ipod
*headphones
*cellphone
*Kindle
*small paperback
*deoderant
*small gold bond?
This is mostly the things I would consider bringing on a plane and I have no doubt it will do the job. It will also be good for roadtrips, which until now I have kept most of my stuff in my daypack but then when I go to do a hike I tend to take a lot of this stuff out and bring mostly hiking stuff.
You could, in theory, take this on a hike too. I don't think I would because of the water bottle thing and I like to bring some rain gear, first aid kit (ok I am overpacker), etc. I should add I like the sholder strap on this because it can extend to be fairly big if that is your preference. If the water bottle holder were a bit larger it would be 5 stars!!! Great value for the money as is though.
