Comments about Fitbit Ultra Wireless Fitness Tracker:
This tiny tracker gives you a lot of information. Coupled with the website you can track food, see calories in and calories out, track various goals like a weekly or daily step count, a daily calorie expendature and a breakdown of how many hours in the day were sedentary, lightly active, fairly active and very active.
You wear it 24/7 and can set it to sleep mode. It'll tell you how long you were in bed, how long it took you to fall asleep, how many times you woke up, and how long you were actually asleep.
The Fitbit resets every night so each morning you start with a new step count but a lifetime step count and lifetime mileage are tracked online. My mom was surprised to find she walked over 1600 miles in a year and she wore it 10.5 out of 12 months.
This is a great product to use if you like tracking data and are motivated by your numbers. I find it is rather addicting and I like being able to see how I rank against my family and friends.
You can also earn badges for various activities. Each day you can earn a daily step badge for getting 5,000, 10,000, 15,000, etc steps in a day. Lifetime totals will get you mileage badges at mile s 50, 250, 500, 1,000 and 2,000 (I'm sure there are more). With the new ultra you can earn daily stair badges when you reach 10 flights, 25 flights, etc and lifetime badges that start at 500 flights of stairs.
If you have the classic, it's probably not worth the upgrade to the ultra unless you are dying to know how many flights of stairs you climb each day.
The downside to the fitbit is that it doesn't mix well with water. If you plan on wearing it on your waistband, it's probably a good idea to get a pedometer leash so it doesn't take a swim in the toilet. I've started wearing mine on the neckline of my shirts. It's visible to others but I'm not as likely to lose it or forget and leave it on my clothes before tossing them into the wash. Come up with a routine early on so you are in the habit of taking it off clothing when you change.
The upside, fitbit customer service is amazing. They typically respond to questions and complaints within 24 hours and will often replace it at no charge if it breaks.

Comments about Fitbit Ultra Wireless Fitness Tracker:
I bought this product because I had to temporarily stop my hard work-outs (due to spine issues). After a period of inactivity and rapid weight gain, I knew I needed to start walking but was frustrated with the relative lack of calorie burn. This little device has really motivated me to keep active and has gotten my weight under control. What's more, I suffer from restless leg syndrome and I use the device to measure the effectiveness of various medications and homeopathic treatments (vice just trying to gauge how tired I still am in the morning). Also, when I started feeling exhausted again, I thought the RLS was acting up but a quick look at the stats revealed otherwise. I had to look elsewhere for the reason and I quickly resolved the issue. Finally, linking my Fitbit account to the earndit website allows me to earn points (by walking) towards giftcards and entries in sweepstakes. This is a huge extra motivation that I would have never thought would make a difference for me. But it does. Not sure why people complain about accuracy. I go up and down hills in the car with no false stair flight readings and my step counts are perfect. I actually count steps over long distances and compare.

Like the wireless feature and it's rechargeable. Can log a lot of info. Spent a few weeks logging in everything only to find it useless as my drives to work and back home were registering as floors climbed and no way to overwrite. Manual says log in as drives but does not cancel out the floors and you have to write down the times you drove to enter them later. A real pain. May work for you if you are a flatlander.
I love that it tracks sleep. That is about all I use it for now because of the altitude errors and it's not as accurate as my Omron as a pedometer. Web page is slow and entering data is a pain. This product could be a winner if they iron out the problems.

I wear this everywhere except when playing water sports. It's light weight and small, easy to forget you're wearing it and not noticed by others. It's easy to lose so I recommend you purchase one of these from REI when you purchase your fitbit:

Comments about Fitbit Ultra Wireless Fitness Tracker:
I can't say if the fitbit is 100% accurate but what I can say is this amazing tiny device keeps me motivated, and is absolutely accurate for what I can track as in how many flights of stairs I climb in a day. The sleep tracking is also very telling and again is accurate based on what I remember when I wake up in the morning. I had a body bugg before the fitbit. The fitbit gives me more, costs less and is so much easier to download daily activity to your computer. I wear the fitbit all day every day and no one needs to know unless I want them to.

Comments about Fitbit Ultra Wireless Fitness Tracker:
I am active on Fitocracy, and use RunKeeper (during workouts), a heart-rate monitor, and myNetDiary (tracking diet) daily. I am very comfortable mixing technology and fitness.
I found the Fitbit to be an elegantly simple product, but without enough utility to warrant the price. Your mileage (heh) may vary.

Comments about Fitbit Ultra Wireless Fitness Tracker:
When the product has a problem you are on your own. They don't have a live customer service person. You go online and they send you a standard form to work through. Did that a week ago and have not heard back. Complained twice on the forum but they ignore you there also.

Comments about Fitbit Ultra Wireless Fitness Tracker:
I love my Fitbit, but sometimes I feel that I need a heartrate monitor instead. It does not accurately track crossfit activity, but it's not meant to. My steps are accurate, but my distance traveled is off (I still have to measure my stride; right now it's using a default value based on my height and weight). The calories burned measurement has been helpful in my weight loss efforts, because I found that I wasn't eating enough to support the amount of calories I burned. The free online tools make the Fitbit worth it, in my mind. I was especially motivated by the pie chart showing my 65% sedentary hours per day! I wear the Fitbit all the time (except in the shower). I even wear it to sleep, and it tracks my sleep quality. I find it very useful, and if I were to buy a heartrate monitor, I would probably still use my Fitbit all the time.

I really like the device and have bought it for family members too. I use it as a food counter and step counter, and then manually adjust my running numbers based on my Garmin watch. Activity tracking is good too. I brought the reporting of activity and food to a recent Dr. appointment and they were amazed at the amount of data.

Comments about Fitbit Ultra Wireless Fitness Tracker:
Now that I have a Fitbit on my waist, I am more interested in the steps I take and the foods I eat. In the first month of use, I have logged my food intake and steps walked and am on schedule to lose the weight I want to lose by the summer.
