        This pack is great for extended day hikes. The first time I used it was on a 11 mile day hike. It is very comfortable and if adjusted right, it doesn't feel like you are even carrying anything. It is also comfortable on a bike even though you are hunched over for extended periods of time.

            I haven't actually used this on my bike. I got it for taking up to the slopes. It's been absolutely perfect. It holds the perfect amount of water for a day on the mountain. Theres enough room to store an extra layer, or tote gloves, hat and goggles to and from the car. I keep snacks in there so I don't have to stop for lunch. Also, it fits a Black Diamond Transfer 3 avalanche shovel. PERFECT!

            If I were to suggest one addition to the Camelbak designers, I would say add a small hip-belt pocket for lip balm, a map, or other tiny things so I don't have to take the pack off.

              I bought it for trekking and mountain biking, and was the perfect mix for capacity vs. bulk, as you can enlarge the space with a zipper and back to a normal space when you no longer need it...

                  I took this as a daypack with me to Africa for two months last summer. I carried a Bible, notebook, pens, pencils, nalgene bottle, rain jacket, pocket knife, and a small first aid kit with me every time, as well as a filled water pouch. This went with me every where I went while there.
                  I loved the fact that the hydration pouch was in its own pocket on the backside of the pack. I would also use this as a place to store money and passport when going places because it is not easily seen and right against my back. It was very durable and got little dirty but nothing I wasn't able to clean. It is still going strong and I use it for class and carrying books.
                  It has two mesh pockets in the front zipper and one mesh pocket w/ zipper in the main compartment. There is a small pocket on top for ipods and mp3 players. It has a waist straps. I was not a huge fan of them but they are removable so I just took them off.
                  This is a great pack and probably my best investment for my trip I love it and would buy it again without hesitation.
