Comments about Mountain Hardwear SuperMega UL 2 Tent:
I purchased this product for use when I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail [PCT] by myself. Within 2 months the netting had separated under the crossbars and the tent zippers were not functioning. Mtn Hardware would NOT send me a loner tent and I had to wait 4 days for Mtn Hardware to return the tent. Within 3 weeks of repair the zippers were not functioning again. I think this tent is good for short outings because the netting and zippers will both fail - it is just a matter of time. The total cost was far greater than $430 as I had to pay 4 nights at a hotel and pay Fedex for overnight shipping.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear SuperMega UL 2 Tent:
This is one of several tents I own, and I purchased it to reduce the weight of my gear. I was not disappointed.
When I first received the tent, my initial reactions were fear, concern, and hesitation. Handling the tent and fly was unlike handling sturdier tents, like my Black Diamond. The SuperMega felt frighteningly thin and light, and I wondered how well it would hold up to colder temperatures, debris-laden camp sites, and windy conditions. However, after a couple trips in The U.P. with temperatures as low as the upper 30's, I am happy to report this tent did not disappoint. This is a great two-person tent that performs well and is lighter than many one-person tents I have seen. The light materials are actually sturdy.
The advertised packed weight was close to accurate. The weight I found was 2 lbs. 11 oz. (including the tent, poles, fly, stakes) rather than the 2 lbs. 7 oz. as advertised, but that is not too far off the mark, and still very light for a two-person tent.
The tent is tapered at the foot, which means your feet will likely be pressing against the mesh walls if you have two backpackers inside, but this is not too bad. More importantly, the double-wall feature meant that I did not experience condensation, and the foot of my sleeping bag did not get wet even when they touched the mesh walls.
When the temperatures were in the upper 30's, I used a 4-season pad and a 15 degree bag with silk liner, and I still slept comfortably in just a t-shirt and underwear. I did not have problems with drafts when the fly was fully zipped.
There are even lighter tents I own, but this is the one I prefer if I am backpacking with my teenage son. We are able to fit in nicely without overcrowding. There are mesh pockets on each side at the front of the tent, which are well-placed for each person's headlamps, etc. It is also great if you like going solo and being able to put your pack in the tent with you, or if you want to be able to accommodate a fellow backpacker experiencing gear failure.
Overall, this is a fantastic two-person tent that is extremely light.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear SuperMega UL 2 Tent:
This really is a very light tent and also very comfortable. I have now taken it on two trips and have been very pleased with it so far. Although it is a two person tent, I got it to use as a solo tent since it is lighter then most one person tents and still has room for my pack during storms so best of both worlds. You could use it as a very intimate two person tent but hardly is it big enough for two large people. Set-up is pretty simple but can be challenging in windy conditions and I made the error of pulling the stakes out and then watched in horror as the tent blew across the campsite (a hazard of an ultralight tent I guess).
I have yet to experience any condensation though my two Sierra trips were pretty dry so I am reserving comment until I get into damper months. I have so far experienced one 30 minute rain storm with no leakage to speak of but again, not much of a storm.
My only caveat and this is to be expected is that the material is very light and I did notice a small tear on the stuff bag during my weeklong trip. In the future I plan to put it in my pack as it will easily fit if I separate the tent from the poles.
Weight with poles, fly, stakes and stuff bags on my postage scale at work is 2 lbs, 11 oz so very close to advertised weight. Accompanying tarp is 5.6 oz so less then the 6.5 oz advertised weight. Tarp is of a stiff material that is not easy to refold so I fold it large and put it with my sleeping bag.
Overall, I got what I was looking for in a solo tent with room to spare and 3 less pounds then my Marmot tent.
