The REI Sub Alpine UL tent is made for backpackers who want to travel light and fast. This tent is compact and wind-shedding—a great choice for 3-season alpine use.

Use of light yet tough materials combined with a hard-wearing floor and pole clips shaves weight with no durability worries
Stable, 3-pole modified dome design stands up to high winds; compact footprint fits easily in small campsites

DAC Featherlite® aluminum poles are lightweight yet incredibly strong, and with Pressfit connectors they are less susceptible to breakage
Our patented Strong Arm clips found at each pole intersection are designed to strengthen pole structure and provide swift setup
Insider Floor seams are engineered to create a nice, clean taut pitch and maximize floor space; factory seam-taping ensures a waterproof seal
No-see-um mesh ceiling panel, front door panel and rear window allow cross ventilation, preventing condensation inside tent
Roof vent in front vestibule also helps prevent condensation by allowing airflow through tent; can be opened from inside the tent

I inherited this tent from my husband's boss who does alot of backpacking and had purchased a new tent. I use it on all of our scout troop campouts along with outdoor leader trainings. It's survived 3 seasons, and several wet nights. It's super lightweight and I usually pull my bag in next to me. I don't own the footprint but am plannin on buying one now that this tent is being re-issued/re-offered -- I'd like the tent to last a good while longer. I have the Chrysalis too, which is lighter and smaller. The sub-alpine is easier to maneuver around in.
