The bag is wonderful, but if you're ordering online be forewarned that the "walnut" color is actually a dark taupe and the interior, which appears to be butter yellow on the website, is a light olive green. I bought it in the store so I knew what I was getting. PacSafe makes this purse in more cheerful colors such as plum and crimson, which I would have preferred if they had been available; I'm guessing REI's buyer thought the members would prefer earth tones.

The bag itself is wonderful; spacious, lots of compartments, distributes the weight very well. Love the zipper lock and the strap lock. It's important to practice opening and closing the strap lock before using it to secure the bag to something; it took me several tries to get the hang of it. I see this as a good thing!

I bought this with a gift certificate I received for Christmas. I had just purchased an expensive new computer, phone, and related accessories and wanted to feel safer out there with them, especially traveling. This bag, intended to be the occasional travel or business meeting bag when I needed my computer, has become my daily purse. I love the look and the convenience, and that I can throw my computer in without transferring all my essentials. Also, it's big enough for files, books, etc so reduces the need to carry another bag or loose files. It's always ready to go - add a couple chargers and it's a complete briefcase. I keep all my personal items in the outside compartment within easy reach and separated from the internal items that require higher security. I've used the strap lock in restaurants and the zipper lock when in busy places. Really an ingenious design, and attractive enough for daily wear (not that I'm particularly fashion-driven). Purchasing this was a great decision.

I wanted a bag to replace my backpack and briefcase. Something a little more stylish, but still comfortable. This fit the bill. I'm able to have my netbook, Kindle, phone, still have room for some paperwork, wallet, etc and not look like I'm carrying the world around.

I bought this item for my last trip to Eastern Europe. It fit the needs for traveling as it has enough pockets for everying including a small camera. I find it a little to big for everyday use, it has to many pockets then.

I ordered this to replace a travelon I bought 3 years ago and have used daily. It's a tad too small, though. I was hoping this would hold my Macbook Air, and it does! The 11". This is the older model, though, and doesn't have a specific pocket for it, which, apparently, the new model does. The new model also has the protection against electronic theft of ID info. This one doesn't (so I ordered a wallet that does). As a result, this one was on sale last week, and now is apparently gone, because now they only advertise two colors. I was able to get it in a rosy red, with a beige lining, which I like. It's also a heavy cordura nylon, and the ones I saw on the rack at REI were smooth nylon with a less attractive lining. This one has plenty of pockets for easy organization, even better than my old one. There will also be room for lunch, a travel guide, my camera, a folded tote bag or poncho, maps, etc., just about everything except maybe a jacket (and maybe even that....). Yet it fits close against my body and doesn't seem too big. It's a little heavy with my laptop in it, but nothing compared to my old briefcase! Someone commented on one website [@] that the water bottle/umbrella pocket was too small for any travel umbrella they'd ever seen, but REI has them that fit perfectly! I like it a lot.

I bought an earlier but similar model for a trip to Viet Nam in 2008,so this is more of a review of the concept than this actual product. My shopping bag was stolen in a crowded market in Saigon, but my valuables were safe in my handbag. In restaurants I'd clip the bag to my chair and enjoy my meal. When I returned, I kept going back to this bag for everyday use. I'll probably buy another color for summer, now that there's a model with an electronics pocket.
